Xbox 360 disk drive stopped reading disks

Try spraying cleaning alcohol on the disk, and wipe it clean.
If that doesn't work, give more information.
Have you modded your Xbox 360 before?
When did you buy the disk, and where?

Try cleaning the disk, if that doesn't work, try another disk, if that doesn't work, then turn the xbox off, take the hard drive out, put it back in, then try playing the game again.

I have had the same issue and it turned out to be my hard drive. If you take the hard drive off the xbox, it will read the disk right? Then replace hard drive and the problem comes back? I stopped using the hard drive and I now use the little save cards that go into the front of the xbox. hope this helps.

It's a loose cable. Strip down your xbox 360 until you can see your DVD drive. Then replug all cables. It should work again. Otherwise it may be the lens.

If it is giving you a disk read error, that is your optical drive. You would have to call 1-800-4MYXBOX to get it fixed.

In very rare instances I believe that the dvd drive of your xbox 360 might have been disconnected.In this case,it dispays an "open tray" message.For this you will have to open your 360 but please take it to the dealer if you are still protected by warranty.Good luck.Thanks for reading.

This hard disk is a easy fix, You can buy a new one for the fraction of the cost, All you have to do is slip this off the unit and apply an new or even a used hard drive. This happens when the 360 is moved while the game disk or dvd's are spinning. the mould on the drive tray is the fault and microsoft have released a new type of design to stop this happening in the newer 360's. the only way to stop this happening is to make sure your 360 does not move while its on, make sure that you wait until at least 30 seconds before you move it or this will happen again.

If you contact Microsoft they *may* replace the tray for you but it is unlikely. they may also swap the game disc because after all its a design fault on their part so you can ring them to see if they will help you. the number you will find at www.xbox.com

my brother put some masking tape over the hard plastic mould on his tray which seemed to stop the scratches so you could try that. instead of hitting the hard plastic they will spin on the softer masking tape.

im guessing that its a samsung drive too as these are the worst for this type of problem.

another way to stop this is swap your drive with another. you would need to get the key from your old drive and flash it onto your new one for it to work properly. the new benq drives do not scratch the discs as far as im aware and they are very good drives that seem to play everything you put in them.
