Scanner I recently bought a new computer tower and it is the new system with vista, I downloaded the software for my rx600 and now there is nothing loaded for my scanner? I can print but it will only print when I start to close my program and there is nothing or at least I can't find it for the scanner. I then went to reload the cd so maybe it would pick up the scanner part and I can't find my software. so what do I do now?

did you install the drivers? they were probably downloaded compressed- you need to look at your download list and install from there. don't know if vista refers to it as install wizard, as xp does, but check that the download was actually opened and installed. otherwise, it's sitting on your hdd doing nothing useful. i'm not familiar with vista, know a lot of people who tried it and switched back to xp. still waiting for the user reports for w7. supposed to be a great improvement on vista! so we wait and watch!
anyway, check out whether your patch for your scanner actually was installed!

The actual program that came with the CD won't work on your Vista computer. This is the link to the drivers and CanoScan Toolbox.
Click on the Drivers & Downloads on this page then choose Vista as your OS

If you are using MS Vista Operating System then your scanner feature will not work as there is no provision for it in Vista. If you are using MS XP or older, unistall the software from your pc. Detach the device and restart the pc. Re-install the drivers from the cd. DO NOT CONNECT the printer at this stage. Connect it ONLY when prompted or at the completion of installation. Good luck

This is the vista compatible version of the canoscan tool box. should allow the buttons to work

This is a non Vista compatable product.
It may run on Windows Vista 32bit Business though.

I put it back to the pc that had windows xp and i am going to buy a new printer today that will work with windows vista. thanks for your concern. John

As u windows vista , u simply need to connect the usb cable to the computer and it will configure the basic drivers .

u can use windows photo gallery to scan something .

Steps >
open windows photo gallery > click on file > import from scanner n cameras > select your printer > click scan > click import > tag the picture > click import again .
it will scan the picture in your computrer , to view that , u can open recently imported pictures .

u need to do this because teh full feature software for vista will not work as it has a compatiblity issue.

Windows Vista printer and scanner drivers are available for your product. The printer software is available by using the Automatic Software Update service built into Windows Vista. The scanner software is available for download through Epson’s website.

PRINTER DRIVER DOWNLOAD

Please follow these steps to set up your Epson product and automatically download the Windows Vista printer driver for it from Microsoft:

1. Connect the USB cable to your computer and then to your Epson product.

2. When the FOUND NEW HARDWARE window appears, select Locate and Install Driver Software (Recommended).

3. Your Epson product drivers will install automatically. You may need to select this option more than once during installation.

4. Close any open windows on your screen.

5. Try printing.

*NOTE:
-Depending on your system the computer may ask for your Windows disk, if so insert your Windows CD into your CD-ROM drive and click OK.
-As the driver is part of Windows Vista, there is no Status Monitor available for your printer. Some printers may have an INK LEVELS options included as part of the resident driver. Otherwise, the printer does have its own indicators. The LCD will display which cartridge is either low or out of ink.
-If the ink levels do not appear, click GET INK LEVELS to refresh the driver. Ensure the printer is directly connected to the computer as the Ink Levels does rely on full bidirectional communication.

SCANNER DRIVER DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLATION

1. Go to the Epson Support website (www.epson.com/support).

2. Select your model, then select Drivers and Downloads.

3. Select and download the TWAIN Driver and EPSON Scan Utility for Windows Vista. Save the file to your desktop and make a note of the file name in order to easily retrieve it.

4. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If a message appears indicating “The scanner has not passed Windows Logo testing”, click Continue Anyway. Then click Finish.

5. Re-start your computer before testing the scanner software.
