Dual Cube speakers

-   I have dropped the dual cube unit of the bose speakers, the clip that connects the 2 units has popped apart. I have the front cover off, I have the speaker unscrewed, but the dirver is too big to fit through the hole, so the speaker is in still in the small cube. How do I get the speaker out. I need to get my hand inside to hold the clip in place while I push the two units together again. Whenever I try to clip them back together, the clip slips into the hole it is in, instead of clipping to the other speaker. Any help would be appreicated. There is a red plastic trim around the opening by the front of the speaker. I removed it, but still can't figure out how to get the front off the small cabinet.
