Dual Cube speakers

Can you open these little units ?

  • George Udked Apr 23, 2008

I have dropped the dual cube unit of the bose speakers, the clip that connects the 2 units has popped apart. I have the front cover off, I have the speaker unscrewed, but the dirver is too big to fit through the hole, so the speaker is in still in the small cube. How do I get the speaker out. I need to get my hand inside to hold the clip in place while I push the two units together again. Whenever I try to clip them back together, the clip slips into the hole it is in, instead of clipping to the other speaker. Any help would be appreicated. There is a red plastic trim around the opening by the front of the speaker. I removed it, but still can't figure out how to get the front off the small cabinet. Thanks, George "udked at" Please put Bose Answer in subject line. Thanks in advance

Remove grill from speaker that has the snap connector. Remove 4 screws, gently pull out speaker and padding. Put pressure on connector (making sure the connector is out at the max. position)with middle and index finger at the same time placing other speaker onto connector, slightly turning speaker. You will here it snap in. Just use maximum pressure with fingers. Do not use tools. Connector is made of plastic and can break very easy.

Yes - although secured VERY well, the front grille can be removed from both top and bottom cubes. There are then screws on the front of each driver for removal. Not much is serviceable in there, but you can get replacement drivers directly from Bose for $22 shipped to your door.

They just pop off with firm pressure from your thumbs. I do not suggest using a screwdriver, as you can harm the plastic.

Want to connect non-bose speakers to a bose lifestyle system

this is possible, however not a very good idea.
Bose speakers are designed a little different than other brand speakers, the Equalizer built into the bose system will probably not sound amazing when you hook up your other speakers. Are you looking for more bass? cleaner highs?

if you want more bass, you could try doubling up your subs, if you want cleaner highs you could buy Bose Jewel Cube Speakers (purchased from a Bose Built-Invisible Dealer

Bose 'Double' Cube Speaker Came Apart

Carefully unsnap the speaker cover you may want to use a jewelers screwdriver or a small flat tip to assist with getting it off. Once its off unscrew the 4 screws completely and then carefully wiggle the speaker from he cube. Once the speaker is out of the way reach in the cube and reset the plastic coupling so its flush with the inside top of the cube. With both cubes on there sides and the rubber washer and swivel ring in place press the bottom cube, with your finger(s) inside the cube on the plastic couping, up into th top cube until you here or feel it snap into place. Once it snaps into place, adjust the insulation in the speaker then wiggle the speaker back into the cube and carefully put the screws back in. Once this is accomplished snap the speaker coverback on and that's it. It takes ten minutes once you get the speaker cover off.

Double cube fell and separated

Use a Flat blade screw driver to take off both grills. Take both speakers out use a phillips screw driver. Put your fingers in the cube with the protruding grommet, turn the object until you see it protruding its maximum. Next align it with the opening in the other cube and press until you here it click back together. re-attach speakers and put grills back on ..Whala!!!

Alpine mrd m500 amp is not pushing my 12 in infinity sub

If you have a dual voice coil sub, make sure that you have the positive and negative terminals connected properly. If you have ONE of the coils wired backwards, it will cause the speaker to produce little or no sound.

Have you set the gains properly?

Are you sure the amplifier is receiving a strong signal from the head unit?

Have you tried it with a different speaker?

Water does not dispense

You probably have a defective water inlet valve. This is a dual solenoid vavle that your supply line connects to. One solenoid supplies the icemaker and the other supplies the water dispenser. Replace this dual valve and it should take care of your problem.

Bose Cube Speakers separated

I had the same problem with a Bose separated double-cube Acoustimass speaker/array but was able to fix it as follows:

small, thin, flat-head screwdriver
large pliers

1. Disconnect the speaker wires from the cube.
2. Remove the grille from the top speaker cube. It just pops off.
3. Insert a small, thin, flat-head screwdriver around the perimeter of the speaker. You will have to pry lightly to break the glue’s seal.
4. Using a set of pliers (large, plumber-sized) wiggle the speaker until it comes free. You might need to grip it top to bottom and then left to right. The speaker will come free of the case.
5. Remove the white insulation to get a clear view of the dislodged brace/connector.
6. Stack the top and bottom cubes. Make sure that the rubber seal between the cubes is seated properly and that the black and white cables are not pinched.
7. Using the C-clamp, compress the brace/connector until it seats on one side. Loosen the C-clamp and compress the opposite side. The brace/connector should snap into place. Be sure the make sure that you do not pinch the speak wires that are running through the center of the brace/connector.
8. Test the articulation. It should be the same as your other speakers.
9. Replace the white insulation in the back of the speaker case.
10. Press the speaker into the case’s face. If you wish, you can apply your preference of glue to the edge of the speaker prior to pressing it into the case.
11. Snap the grille onto the speaker.
12. Connect the speaker wires to the cube and you are done.

You should be good to go.
