Can not boot from Win XP Pro without an auto restart

Hi Jeff,

I see you are having issue installing windows, getting an error the the Boot Manager is missing...

The windows Disc that you have is this a burnt copy? possible that the installation files on the Windows you have is incomplete.

But if I may ask before you tried installing this Windows what windows did you have on your computer?

Have you tried booting the disc directly from the CD drive instead of installing it from within windows.

Go into BIOS and change the boot configuration of you Computer make sure the the CD/DVD drive is selected as the primary boot option before the hard drive, once that is done restart your computer make sure that you Windows disc is in the cd/dvd drive, you should get a prompt on the upper left saying to boot from cd press any key - press Enter right away once you see that prompt this should boot from the disc for the installation to continue but if still it looks for the Boot Manager the copy of your installation disc maybe incomplete.

Also you can try to wipe clean you hard drive and try again again with the installation.

I can not install windows XP on Toshiba Satellite U300, windows

You must have latest Windows Xp CD .
Latest Motherboard chipset does not recognise hard disk without proper sata raid or sata driver. So you can install sata driver if u have USB floppy drive by downloading latest Sata raid to floppy. At the time of installation you will see a message press f6 to if u need to install raid driver.then press f6 asking for floppy drive and floppy insert press enter to continue.

Why not win xp load in compaq presario cq40

The notebook is preinstalled with a SATA hard drive which needs seperate drivers to be installed inorder to get the hard drive detected. The drivers for the SATA can be installed only by using a floppy drive. As the notebook does not have a floppy drive installed, we can either try disabling the SATA native support in BIOS or install the drivers with the help of a USB floppy drive.
Here is the link for SATA driver:
Check the following document to install SATA dirver without using the floppy drive:

I would go into the BIOS and make sure your SATA controller is using the AHCI or IDE setting and not RAID, if it is using RAID then it may need to load a special driver to install windows.

This is the most likely cause of your problem, can you also check and make sure the bios is seeing the HDD at all?

Problem installing Windows XP with Asus P5RD1-VM series mothboard

You need to copy the SATA drivers from the motherboard CD into a floppy diskette.
When you are booting with the windows xp installation CD you can see a message that says:

Press F6 for raid drivers

Press that key so windows installation CD look for the SATA drivers.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 shows asms missing

My understanding of this problem is as follows: When you put the Windows XP CD into the drive and switch on the computer Windows starts from the CD. In order to access the CD it uses the BIOS. However, at a certain point it decides to use its own drivers instead of using the BIOS. Oops! it doesn't have the right driver because your CD drive is too new, so it can't read the CD, and thus can't continue the install. The solution then is to copy all the necessary files onto a place where Windows can read the files. Solution 1 Do you have another computer? Take the hard drive out of the machine you are installing and put it into the second machine as a secondary hard drive. Switch on the second machine and copy the i386 directory and all its files and subdirectories from the Windows install CD on to the secondary hard drive. Remove the hard drive and put it back into the machine you are installing and switch it on. When Windows then asks for the missing file you can direct it to the I386 directory on the hard drive. This should be C:\I386. It will ask for the location of about 10 files. Give the same answer each time. Solution 2 You will need a bootable CD such as Hiren's boot CD, and a second CD drive. Put Hiren's into the primary CD drive. Put the Windows CD into the second CD drive. Switch on, and choose the mini XP Copy the I386 directory and all its sub-directories onto the hard drive. Again, when Windows asks for the location of the files direct it to the appropriate directory on the hard drive.

Hara drives not detected

Do you have sata disks? Go to bios and find a option related to sata or raid, and select "compatible mode" or "ide" depending on your bios. Other way is to have your disks drivers ready and when xp ask to install third party drivers you press F6 or the key that xp wil ask to install this drivers during os instalation.
