Diconnect the battrey boot then put it back this problem is caused by the new acer's battery they call it smart but it's not compatible so after boot in the hardware manager disable the battery and the problem is fixed (i try itt with my aspire 3000)

When you start up, is it using the ac adapter or running off the battery? Either way, 1/2 hour to boot is too long. I would have to say you have a possibility of a memory modules or hard drive going bad or not seated correctly, or a virus like problem, in which case doing a re-install would not repair the situation unless you did a complete clean install and not a repair. Can you provide more info in that regard? Thanks,

Hey i recently purchased this laptop from a friend it moves so slow i want to reset it to factory i dont have a clue how can u help?

To go back to when the laptop came from the factory Joe, requires the Restoration Disk. (Or a fresh, new genuine copy of Windows)

The Restoration Disk (CD) is installed into the optical drive, with the laptop on, and Windows fully loaded.
When asked, choose Full Installation. (Destructive Installation)

If you do not have the Restoration Disk;

In the USA the disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 3 to 5 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call the toll-free number 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Have the Serial Number written down, and handy. It is on the Bottom of the laptop, in a white Service Tag. S/N = Serial Number
(P/N = Product Number. HP's model number)

For other countries use HP Support Worldwide,

1) Make sure your Java is up to date. Go to
Download, and install the latest version of Java.

2) Make sure your Adobe Flash Player is up to date.

[ System Restore only takes you back so far, IF, there is a Restore Point. Does not go back to day 1 when it came from the factory, unless the laptop is very new ]

Laptop is loading up really slow and I cant select any options

Probably, reinstall windows and it will be ok. But, you may need the DVD from the manufacturer to boot from in order to reinstall a fresh copy of windows.

Laptop froze in mid-use. Tried to reboot. I cannot get past the login/welcome screen. I cannot click on anything or open any programs. Please help. This laptop is only 3 months old. Thank you!

There are many reason's why you are facing that problems. To deal with it, make it sure that your laptop is having a good ventilation and not overheated. You must have the ventilator so that it will blow away the heat of the processor and cooling down the hot laptop. Because if the assigned temperature reach the computer will get slow and freeze. Another reason is also the viruses, these viruses will make your computer slow and freeze so you must have anti-virus and latest or updated virus definition.

The remedy

1. When turning on your laptop tapping F8 and then select safe mode. To select you can press arrow up or down and when highlighted the safe mode press enter. In some cases there are appearing on your screen while loading just press enter, ok or yes. Try saving or back up your documents or files to your flash drive, external drive or second hard drive ( Partition hard drive). After back up, Click start and programs and accessories and system tools and look for system restore. System restore has the capability to restore your computer to a good and working condition. Just select the date example you have mentioned that it was 3 months old. Meaning to say that you purchased it last November or December so click that month and select the day then click ok this will take an hour and this will automatically restart and check after loading if still having freezing.

2. Most of the laptop has the recovery software insert it to your cdrom drive and run the recovery. Follow the screen and this process will also restore your computer to a working condition but this delete or erase your entire data. That is why you have to back up first before performing restoring.

Have a nice day

My laptop freezes after start up. I start the computer and it runs normal until right after log in. I have roughly 30 seconds to 1 minute after logging in before the fan turns on and the laptop starts...

when was the last time your computer worked fine? run system restore and choose a restore point prior to when the issue started. if no restore point is available, open run and enter 'msconfig', go to startup and disable unecessary startup programs. also open the prefetch folder and delete its contents. then restart your system. if it's still slow, i suggest you backup your files and reinstall windows. make sure that you operate the laptop on a flat surface to avoid any ventilation blockage. hope it'll help. good day. =)'

I have a Dell Latitude C610, some programs run dead slow!

Wow! 24 hours to run a virus check -- that's a long time. Let's see if we can find out what is causing your laptop to run so slow.

I understand you've doubled the ram ... It is now at least 2gb?

Please look at the following at the event viewer logs to see if anything looks out of the ordinary. (Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer ... look at the Application and System Log in particular).

Is there any process in particular sucking up the processor? Press Ctrl-Alt-Del then open up the the task manager. Choose the processes tab, then click on the CPU tab until it is sorted with the highest process on top. What process/processes are taking up the utilization - ideally, system idle process will be in the 90s.

Please report back so we can resolve your issue. Thank you.

My HP Pavilion dv4000 laptop is running insanely slow

you may have a trojan / virus yes it will take forever to fix and restore by add remove./ /slowness/ Two things you can do new installation / lose all information. or you can go into choice menu while rebooting tap F8 key repeatedly if its not F8 ,F10, key or F6 key you will know when your there, at top of screen ,your first choice will be SAFE MOOD etc... use arrows and good to last known config that worked and press enter. now if that works and computer is still a mess hit programs asseriories system tools restore , create restore point and click on the calender, and pick a earlier date. if you do this correctly the computer will do the rest and reboot and restore .ALLOW COMPUTER TO DO ITS THING IT MAY GO BLANK, JUST LEAVE IT ALONE AND IT WILL BOOT UP BY IT SELF ONCE ITS COMPLETED IT CAN TAKE TIME. GOOD LUCK

Curser freezes

When you said your cursor freeze, does the computer still respond or the whole computer froze. If the computer froze, then it could be anything from, memory, hard drive, cpu, or mainboard. Does the keyboard works, if just the cursor freeze, try using a usb mouse.

using the system restore disk, boot the laptop and choose repair, run chkdisk /r this repairs the system files, if this does not fix the problem, using the same system disk do a restore.
