Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

1 Answer

Headphone jack k, so my headphones go in and out, usually one side never plays, sometimes they'll both play or go out at the same time. i assumed it was my headphones because they were quite old. wrong, i bought brand new headphones today, nice ones even, and they do the exact same thing. So i am thinking now that the headphone input on the ipod is dirty or loose or something What to do?

Your best bet is to find a shop that repairs Ipods. Your headphone jack is breaking away from the printed circuit board and needs resoldered. Shouldnt be too expensive. My shop would charge $25-$40 for a repair like that.

Fixing it yourself is a risky proposition. But if your careful all you need to do is gently pry the chrome back away from the front plate using a jewelers screwdriver (being careful not to mar the finish). Slide out any ribbon cables that are betweeen the face and the audio board (which is screwed to the back cover w/ 2 small torx screws). Unscrew the audio board and replace w/ a new one. Re-assemble.

You can find replacement audio boards all over the internet and if you google "disassemble Ipod" you'll find all sorts of illustrated tutorials. Good luck!

I have a Static noise coming from the right channel of my mixer. I hear it coming out the right speaker as well as the right ear of my headphones (jack). How can I fix this?

That sounds like a bad connection but it can also indicate your mixer has a problem. If it occurs on all channels it is the mixer, if only one then the problem is in the input. Check your cables, they are a big culprut in problems like this.

I have a Latitude D600 laptop. When I plug in my headphones, the sound still plays through the built in speakers. When I twist the plug in the jack I can sometimes get sound in the headphones but it still...

I dont think the JACK is the problem, I suspect a bad headphone wire (intermittent) or an incorrect driver, headphone jacks in laptops are software controlled, (no mechanical switch inside) if you hear sound in both the headphones and the speakes it is a driver issue, try updating the driver, if the headphone wire is erratic it can fool the software that controlls the input and do crazy things also...

Good luck!

When i plug my headphone in my ipod 5 genration it plays out loud

Try getting a can of compressed air to blow out the headphone jack sometimes dirt gets in there. Don't blow with just your mouth. If this works try keeping headphone jack covered so dirt doesn't get in there. Switcheasy makes doc and headphone port covers they come with their cases.

Head phone jack only plays right side/brad new headphones

Call Philips, get replaced - this is a common problem across all mp3 manufacturers. You can look at the YouTube video on repairing mp3 player headphone jacks, but i doubt it will work without causing more problems with your mp3 player.

You should check and see if the headphone jack is broke or not. That sometimes accounts for the reason why sound won't come out.

Nano shows song playing but nothing happens

Make sure your headphones are working properly by testing with your computer headphone jack.

Is the headphone port on the Nano loose?

Connect the Nano to your iPod dock and see if you can head audio through the docks headphone jack.

If the headphones work, and you can get audio out of the dock headphone port, then there is a problem with your Nanos headphone jack.
