Yes it is high if it still does that when it is warm. Cold idle speed is higher. Perhaps they will slow it down at first service.

ok this is how generators work principally when the engine starts it will just tick over ( 700/ 850 rpm. ) but once you plug in for electric power the generator engine automatically speed up . this is done by two item as the voltage regulator demands more power the governor
open up to increase speed engine .
solution check that the mechanical part of the governor is not sticking , check that air filter is not clogged up as this also stops the governor to function properly

The idle control switch allows the generator to go into idle when there is no demand form the appliances connected. This saves gas and increases the life of the generator. Damage can occur for some appliances like a refrigerator/freezer because the voltage and frequency are not prepared for the load resulting in a low voltage bad startup that will damage the appliance. Suggest that you leave the idle control switch off while any motor/electronic devices are connected.

The throttle control is likely a choke function for starting. These generators are designed for only one running speed to produce the necessary 60 cycles per second and voltage.

Most small pressure washers do not have an automatic throttle control to increase engine speed on demand (activated by trigger on wand). You must set the governor/throttle to about max. to get the rated pressure. A honda motor produces 5 hp when it is turning about 3600 rpm. To increase the life of the pump, use about 80 % of capacity of the pump and increase only for stubborn debris.

Your idle speed may be too low. It is common for the Alternator to slow down with the engine RPM. You can get a free scan of your charging system at Autozone or Oreillys. You may have a lazy Regulator which is not allowing more power through.

Some cars like Ford products have a sensor which automatically increase idle speed to keep the Voltage up. In your brand you need to ask a Dealer. When your car has more equipment demanding power than the Alternator produces, the Voltage will drop.

You may want to install a new Serpetine belt and check your Tension pulley for a tight fit. If the belt is sloppy it can effect the charging system.

Idle Speed Control (ISC) Motor OPERATION Eagle Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) System NOTE: The Eagle TBI system is used only on 2.5L Premier engines. The Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor is mounted to the throttle body and controlled by the PCM. The throttle lever rests against the initial adjustment screw of the actuator (plunger). The idle speed is not adjustable. The initial adjustment screw is only used to establish the initial positioning of the actuator when the ISC motor has been replaced. The actuator extends or retracts to control engine idle speed and to set throttle stop angle during deceleration. Based on inputs from the various engine control system sensors and switches to the PCM supplies current to the ISC motor to adjust the actuator position for the particular operating conditions.
