Re: constant restarts,

If you get passed the bios setup menu and it reboots when getting into windows, you have to start your pc with the windows disc to do a repair, as you have changed the hardware and windows is looking for all the motherboard drivers, but only finding your old ones. If your are building the system from new then there must be a video or memory fault, so long as you now the cpu is working ok.

Constant lockups in bios or os

restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then
once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f this task will schedule when computer restarts which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive do nothing while the chkdsk utility ani input may damage your computer then defragment your hard drive then you might test all leads that are attached from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) or just replace them they could be faulty
hope this helps

Motherboard will not fire up i get no monitor activity at all, i have tried memory, cpu and grapics card on another board and they all work, have changed power unit as the fans were running slow, this all...

Sounds like you an overcharged capacitor or a short to an integral part of the board. unless you have the expertise or tools to pinpoint where the error has occurred this will be a hard fix. If the board is still under warranty I would advise getting in contact with Asus themselves to see about getting a new board sent your direction.

Plugged old an older HD into my custom pc and now no video appears on screen.? I was trying to help my wife retrieve old photos from her ancient 800mhz hp computer so i took the hd out of her pc and put...

What you need to do is put the old HD in as a spare drive, not replace the one in the computer. Each drive can be either a Master or Slave. The pin settings are usually written on the drive. Once the computer boots to the regular drive, the OS will recongize the spare drive and give you the ability to open it and get your photos off of it. Make sure that when you start the computer that the cables are seated correctly on the board. The Master drive once you set the pin settings on the drive should be plugged into the Primary IDE controller, which is the plug closest to the edge of the board. Then the secondary drive, or slave once you set the pin settings, should go in the secondary IDE controller, which is the one right behind the primary. Then give it a try. Also, the older HD, what is the brand and model, maybe it's not compatible with the Intel board?

Thanks Mark

Bios info retention

You can look at the battery to see what one you need. I think most modern boards require a CR 2032, but check yours just to be sure.

Computer Restarts

A system that restarts for no apparent reason can be caused by many things. The most common can be the windows registry confused. Conflicting software. Virus infection. In order to help reduce the number of possible causes lets start with a simple step. Click the start button & open control panel. The open the System icon. This will open, System Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Go to Startup and recovery & click the settings button.
Uncheck the, "Automatically Restart" button. Than click ok.
The next time you're system restarts on its own, you should receive an error message from windows. Write down the message. Than get back to me so together we can find a solution to the restarts.

Can't load Windows, constant restarts.

There could be several issues, but random restarts can be difficult to debug. For now, I'd start with the easiest and that is a memory check.

Visit and download the free bootable floppy or CD (burn the ISO file with free ImgBurn utility if you have no ISO burning application).

Boot the problem system with the floppy or CD and the memory test should start automatically. Let it run over night and see if errors are reported.

Hello, find the BIOS Beep Codes at and try to find your problem. It is not a software or Monitor problem. It could be RAM or Video Card failure
