Set time screen on turning camera on

I have had a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S40 for a couple of years, and it has served me well, though batteries seem to last for less and less time. But now it always asks me to set the time and date when I turn it on, which is a pain. I either set it, or select cancel, when it allows me to take a photo! The moment can be lost...

Any help would be welcomed...

Thanks, but beyond me technically (that's why I have a digital aim-and-shoot). Would it cost much to repair -- I suppose I mean -- is it worth it?

There is BATTERY LITHIUM SECONDARY (installed on MS-259 Flexible Board) requires replacement.
It requires to apart camera and little solder work, qualified camera tech job.
If you are willing to repair it yourself, let me know to help you out.

Well, cost of repair would be around 100 and you can decide better to get it repaired or not.

My sony camera has a white screen when i turn it on can't see anything camera less than a year old

Hi your camera has LCD defective. it just need change. you can get the part at http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-S40-LCD-DISPLAY-SCREEN-MONITOR-NEW-/330487896926?pt=Digital_Camera_Accessories&hash=item4cf29d1b5e#ht_4881wt_961 Installing matter, you can bring to your local repair shop or just bring your camera itself. If the repair shop is decent then, they would charge $10 or 15 for labor. But it is your unlucky, then they would try to charge whatever they want. Thanks and kindly regard!

TURN CAMERA ON SCREEN FLASHES cYBER-sHOT AND GOES

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

I can't turn off the flash.

Using the Four Way Arrow Pad,

In Automatic Record mode, the UP ARROW controls flash mode. Press it a couple of times until you see in your screen the flash icon or the "lightning icon" with slash as if stating a "no flash" mode.

Hope this works for you. Let me know of any question.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72

Check the battery contacts inside the camera and see if there getting a good connection. If there spring loaded you might have to pull up on them slightly to get a contact going for charging. Look for corrosion as well.

Sony cyber-shot DSC-S500

If you open the camera up, whick I know is an intricate task, and take the screen down but don't unplug it, at the right bottom their is something that resembles a watch battery, if you can figure out how to get it off and find a replacement it will be fixed... This battery serves a a sort of memory power, even though you have batteries, this battery keeps the memory for the camera's software, so inturn without it the camera is dead in the water. this is fixable!

Cyber-Shot DSC-S500

We had similiar problems with ours until we started making sure the camera was kept warm when it was shut off. For some reason, it and the batteries don't like the cold...we were able to extend the battery life if we kept it covered when we weren't using it.
