Changing the circulation fan in freezer

I'm about to change the circulation fan in a kenmore coldspot 106.78187891. It looks simple but can you inform me of any roadblocks I should consider. Thanks, Jeff

Just becareful you do not cut yourself on the evaporation fins. Let the unit thaw out before attempting the repair is at all possible. It is pretty simple and easy. Do not let the fan blade bind up against the shroud or the motor. If it is a condenser motor use the new screws that come with the motor. Clean out the coils before you replace the motor while you have the old motor out. Pay attention to how the wire connect in case you get side tracked by a diversion. Write down how it all connected so you will not have to guess in the event you get an unexpected phone call or other distraction. As alway have the power shut down when doing any repairs on electrical equipment.

Kenmore Coldspot gushes water when changing the filter.

There should be a shut off valve inside where the filter goes. When you remove the filter, it should slam shut.

Kenmore model 106.59592990 freezer side not cooling. Refrigerator side works fine

open the freezer door and empty the shelves look at the bottom of the panel in the freezer where the air holes are if it frozen or iced up. thats your problem your air flow is blocked with ice. other possibility would be a fan failure.

I have a kenmore coldspot model 70167998 - loud vibration in freezer; i'm thinking maybe it's the frost free fan going out? Is this a fire danger?

no theres not any fire danger,it may just be the fan blades hitting ice build up due to defrost issues you will need to remove the rear inner wall in the freezer to see exactly what it is

We bought a kenmore elite coldspot 106.59966883 and it is way too cold. The vegetable are frozen at the bottom. We need to lower the temp. How can we do this?

you dont need to lower the temp. if everything is freezing at the bottom of the fridge, and not the entire fridge compartment, then your problem is your freezer fan, or evaporator fan, is failing to circulate the air clockwise through the unit, you need to replace that fan motor.

Kenmore Coldspot not keeping cold. Ice in freezer

What are your temp controls set to? If the controls are set to the max setting and it won't reach temp, you could have a broad range of problems ranging from bad door gaskets, to bad temp controls, to a low refrigerant charge, to possible a failing mechanical part such as a fan motor or compressor.

Bottom drawer of the refrigerator freezes the fruit.

I think the thermostat is faulty. Thus it makes the freezer extra cold. Try replacing it. Regards, Nandini.

Kenmore Coldspot EM5119829. The Freezer works

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp

or..
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Kenmore Coldspot freezer is buzzing loudly

See if pressing on the back panal makes a difference and see if anything is putting pressure on the panel. If its vibration it is trial and error to get it positioned to quiet it down. If it is the bearing replacement is the cure.
