Re: picture and sound disappeared

Your red crt bulb is starting to go bad. somtimes you can tap lightly on the neck of the red and the prob. usually short term will go away. if not tube replacement is necessary. this is sometime a pricey repair. but worth it! john

Red screen

Your red tube is going bad or the CRT board is cracked. Either way your TV is done. You cannot get replacement parts anymore.

Red picture tube needs screen voltage adjust. Open fornt or back of TV and look for a black square looking box with adjustment knobs. Look for red screen adj and slowly turn rt or lft until lines just disappear. If screen goes too bright tv will shut down, just turn back on again and retry

The picture has disappeared but the sound is working

Check the lamp first, especially if its the original. Also, observe the red LED on the front panel. It will often blink a code which can identify the problem.

Wont turn on smell burning

Can you remove the rear panel and check if the hissing is coming from the flyback? Which is a large transformer with a large red wire coming from the top of it? If so can post a link where you can get a replacement their not exspensive and their easy to replace. If its not coming from the flyback post a picture of where the hissing is coming from and I will identify the parts for you, But I feel its the flyback due to the hissing. respond to this same post so I have your correct model number when you reply.
