Question about iLO (2 GB) MP3 Player

1 Answer

Memory issue. Whenever I press the power button on my ilo mp3 player i get the ilo logo, then it searches through files and displays the message: "Please leave at least 3MB of memory unused for system usage" There are no songs on the mp3 player, I have formatted it a few times, and when it is plugged into the computer it says it has 1.98GB free space. I don't know what else to try to do

Re: Memory issue.

Try to find in my computer and open music file and click and drag music to the folder and see if it takes. May have to delete driver and reinstall.

Ilo player must be synchronized, coping and pasting files is not enough:

  1. Start Windows Media Player and select following menus: "File.", then choose "Add to Library." then the "Add" button. Then, look for the folder where your keep the mp3s to upload.
  2. Plug the Ilo MP3 player into USB.
  3. Click the "Sync" tab that you find at the top of Windows Media Player . You will find the Ilo MP3 player on the right side of Windows Media Player. If Ilo is not ther, then right-click on Sync tab and click "Refresh Devices."
  4. Click "Library" then "Songs." on Windows Media Player . Highlight the son songs, and choose "Add to Sync List."
  5. Click "Start Sync" button that will appear at the bottom right corner of Windows Media Player. The songs will then be uploaded to the Ilo MP3 player.

Howdy, Doc; I was wondering if you've got any more help to give an iLO owner. A...

iLO Mp3 Player
"Flash Error"
1. Connect the player to the PC using the USB cable. 2. Open Windows Media Player. 3. Go to the Sync or Devices tab and delete all content from the player. 4. Go to the Tools menu and select Options. 5. Select the Devices tab, highlight the ILO or Siren player and click on Properties. 6. Uncheck the box "Create Folder Hierarchy on Device" ---- "Firmware Upgrade" (provided by jwmgotee):
I just repaired/reformatted my 1.0 GB Ilo following the instructions below with no problems:
Please connect the player to a rear USB port on the computer. The display should show “USB Connected”. (If not, please press the power button.) Please make sure that all unused programs and applications are closed. You can close the applications by closing as many of the icons in the lower right hand corner (by the clock) as possible. Download the correct Firmware Click here ( to download the ILO 116 Firmware Click Open to initiate the download Double click on the ILO or Siren folder icon. There will be 14 icons. There will be a Setup icon that looks like a box with a blue line on it; please double click on this. Then click Run - this will open the Install Wizard. The Install Wizard has the instructions on the screen as you go through it. Once the firmware has installed, please click the Start menu, then Programs. Look for the icon that says ILO or Siren, and then double click the Firmware Update to install to the player. Depending on how severe the corruption to the firmware on the player is, you might have to do this step 2 or 3 times in order for it to completely repair the firmware. It will now search for the ilo. This may take a while depending on how corrupted the firmware is, so be patient.
After it has found the ilo, it will say, "A device has been detected in recovery mode and is being initialized. Please wait."
The ilo should come back to life and start showing it's glorious "USB Connected" screen.
The "Firmware Update" window should appear. Select "Format Data Area" to rid the player of corrupted firmware data. And click "Start".
It can take anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes to re-flash the ilo and the program might appear to have locked up, but it hasn't. So don't close the program or disconnect the ilo!
If the program fails to find the ilo and gives you an error like, "Device Timeout" or something similar, you need to reinstall the ilo drivers. This can be done by inserting the ilo cable into a USB port it has never been plugged into before. Or you can reinstall the drivers by reinstalling the Rave-MP program. (Remove it, restart the computer, and then install it again).
Although, plugging it into a new USB port is the fastest and easiest option.
If your player won't even turn on, follow these instructions first and then those above:
First, remove the battery. While this isn't necessary to get the player into recovery mode, it insures the unit will not power on before the cable is inserted.
On the ilo, hold the "Power" button down while inserting the USB cable. Continue holding the power button down for 5 seconds more after the cable is inserted. The backlight on the ilo will remain off during this time, making the screen appear to be blank.
An hourglass should appear on your computer and Windows should say,
"Found new Hardware 'SMTP3500".

Although it should be letting you download more than 424mb of files, there are only 2 things I can suggest:
  1. Try to open up the folder when you plug it into your computer. Search through the folders and see if there are files in there that may not be compatible with your mp3 player and therefore will not display.
  2. Check for duplicate files and that the size of the files is not misleading. I've had a problem where a certain song was displayed as being 2.56mb, I opened it on my computer before it was transfered and it was registered as 60mb because the track would continue to play for hours afterwards because of the file being inappropriately labeled at the ending point.
The fact that there is so much unused and unusable space on the mp3 is unusual, but you may have a problem also with your formatting. You DO have to leave some space in your mp3 player to leave room for the operation files of the mp3, so although it is labeled as having 2gb of space, you have to save at least a couple mb of space to let the system function. Hope this helps.

Ilo logo, search, sort, repeat

This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
