I have an OEM PC with a BIOS ID of 03/15/2005-601-686A-6A6LIB09C-00. If the PC reboots in XP, it intermittently loses the CDROM in the bios. The PC randomly reboots when using Internet Explorer 6, or the mouse will stop working (hangs). I replaced the bios and reinstalled XP Home, but the problem still remains. What is my problem?
Hi, first check that your RAM chips are seated firmly, then check the CPU fan for dust, then if you still have the problem try disconnecting the on/off switch wires that run from the case to the board, bridge the two pin out to mstart the computer and see if problem still exists. The final test I can offer is the power supply, If you can use a multimeter and test the voltage. Yellow =12v red=5v black=ground. If you get a variance of more than 2v replace the unit. Another way is to try a diferent power supply. Regards mistyman
