Smeg SDO12 Double Oven Fault

I have an unusaul problem with this oven. The top oven works good. The main oven though will only operate on two of the settings. When i select any other setting it fails to heat up, i think it only gets to about 90'C. It works fine on the Super cook Setting and the static oven setting. I have checked smeg list of faults but have not found anything to help.

I've also a SDO12, again the top works fine, but the bottom oven doesn't heat. will try other settings.
Is there an internal fuse box in these things ?

SOURCE: Smeg oven SA 392 EB - technical difficulties

first of all the yellow/orange light glowing is a known fault. it needs a slight wiring modification to fix it, however it dose not affect the operation of the oven nor is it dangerous.
now to the heating problem, there is a round element at the rear witch surrounds the fan. is this element getting hot? if not then it most likely needs replacing. it could be the thermostat but more likely the element.

If the fan is running, then it is safe to say that the oven element has gone.
Replace with a new one,(element that is).,
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.

I can' t work out what the symbols all mean. I have moved into another house and there is no instruction manual. The oven seems very hot. For example what do I bake a cake on?
Cheers,
Pat

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

I have a Stoves double oven and after a power cut the clock has stopped working and the main oven is not working either. the clock is completely off. the small top oven is still working though. what can...

The clock controls the ovens. In other words, directly you set any time on the clock, a contact operates within it to provide power to the ovens. (Normally the grill remains operational). You may need a new clock/timer. Before you do so, try switching the power off at the main isolating switch and leaving it off for a few mins, then switching it back on, to try to get the clock to operate. You may need to do this a few times.
Normally Stoves stick a label identifying the model on the left hand edge of the lower oven. You see this when you lower the main oven door. it will probably start with a 05 and be 9 digits long. With this number you can identify the oven and obtain parts.

We have Smeg DUCO8CSS double electric oven. Bottom oven does not work, clock is blank and fan doesn't work. Top oven OK ! - though usually the fan runs when this is operating.

If the clock is blank, then the main oven will not work, as the clock timer is linked with the main oven.
You need to to get the clock working, or you will not be able to use the main oven
