Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions
Hello, I am looking to replace the first layer of the tv that my son has made many tears in. The glass layer below is fine. Please advise if you know where I can find or order this screen, and if possible what the replacement will require (tools/other parts?) Model: PT5499HD 10/2004
the greay line you said is colled a frame collapes this is most likely to be caused by a dry joint on the frame output or in the general aera around the frame chip if you dont have a clue what im talking about seek pro help

A line on an LCD, either horizontal or vertical usually means the video driver board is defective or the screen is defective, does it show up as black even on a dark screen? That means a line of LCD "shutter"s is not working and there is a problem that cant be fixed by a reboot or channel change. Bummer.

Get an ESR meter and check all the electrolytic capacitors in the set! I am sure you will find many decoupler and coupling capacitors that are on the edge or too high in ESR.

This unit has 3 power supplies. The secondary is the one that is used to turn on high-voltage power to the set. You will see a number of blinks on the LED, you will get sound, and then nothing.
This part is on the main chassis, it's called BOAR D, and t costs around $300. You have to do a little soldering to replace, so call i n a tech
