Question about Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Dropped Camera I leant my camera to someone and now it won't turn on. The front of the camera is slightly separated from the back and top (the part with buttons on top). Any suggestions? I'm tempted to open it with a small screwdriver and manually put the camera back together but I'm afraid that it's probably not a very good idea. I can't bring the camera in for repair because I'm in Rwanda and can't necessarily find a canon expert here. Any help is appreciated!

I dropped my camera on the lens while it was open, now it will not close. I noticed it was slightly blurry when i tryed to take a new pic. I turned it off and then back on and the lens didn't move

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

My Lumix DMC-LX5 camera won't turn on

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

I dropped my canon powershot SD 4500 IS and now it won't turn on! It's survived countless other falls just fine, and would turn on immediately then. All times, including this time, have been when...

Really!'ve dropped your camera "countless" other times and now you're concerned because this time, it won't turn on!!! You're not sure what else to do?!!! How about not dropping your camera. How about using the wrist strap. Your dropping luck has run out...your camera does not have nine lives.

Abt digital camera canon power shot A250

When I turn my camera on my starting screen will appear and it will stay on for only 30 seconds and then turn itself back off. The shutter does not move. I think it is jammed. I dropped my purse and the camera was inside of it. I think it may have been the cause of my problems. Im not sure what the correct term is but the part of the camera that sticks out in the front to help focus and get close does not move either. It is slightly out like is is jammed as well... please help I love this camera!

Blurry display after dropping

I did the same thing to my Photosmart E327 and upon inspection, I found that the len had fallen out. I could not find it so I am trying to find how to get it replaced. The blurry picture began for me after the drop. Suggest that you check to see if your len has become dislodged, or fallen out as mine did.

Camera dropped - does not turn on

Check out Nikon support. My guess is no parts or a very expensive repair bill.

Will not power on, lens stuck, poor warranty

Oh boy says the camera tech, a free camera. UTTER BS mate. This is an old trick to say you dropped it or got it wet. If a camera gets wet you can tell straight away and if you are adamant you haven't dropped it or given it swimming lessons then stand up for yourself and DEMAND it gets repaired. I'll guarantee it'll get repaired and sold very quickly if you leave it with them. Many cameras suffer from a similar fault and OK many of do get droppped but just as many are faulty without being dropped. Write letters to Pentax themselves and jump up and down.Make as much noise as you can. If you have a consumer affairs organization write to them as well. Threaten media notification and anything else you can think of. Even legal action. Any genuine Tech will stand up in court and say it's a common fault in many brands. I did hear of one person who took a camera company to court because they refused to repair her camera because she carried it in her purse. She won because the darned thing was advertised to carried in a pocket of purse. Honestly some of these shifty characters just love people like yourself. Go to the top and make NOISE and lots of it.
