In rare instances it is sometimes the 15 pin connector that connects on the computer end. Could be at the monitor end of the same cord, if it is a connector and not hard wired to the inside. Check both possible sides for bent pins.
I once went through an extension cable and had to remove it as it was bad connections and I'd have constant color changes drifting in and out. Sorry, but most likely it is just a cheap monitor on the fritz.

Hi, My monitor will once in awhile go from the warm white color to a slightly red or pinkish color. The monitor is about 5 years old and the model # is AL1913. Any thoughts? Thanks. Don

Red or pinkish cast on the whole screen? You may want to check the VGA connectors and pins at both ends. Also try it with anothe PC to make sure it is not video problem in the PC.

Whole screen has a light blue tint. we've tried adjusting the color on the menu and that didnt help. also, we went into control panel and adjusted color there and that didnt help either

You have either bent pin or the the video connectors are not properly attached to the PC or the monitor. It can also be the video card itself, but check all the pins at both ends of the video cable first.

My 19 inch ViewSonic monitor shows red /voilet

Please check the VGA cable at both ends to make sure there are no bent pins and fit into the socket properly at both ends. Also try this monitor with other PC also since it can be in the video card.

My whole screen has a blueish green tint

  • Make sure the plugs are hard into the sockets, one loose pin can cause strange colour problems.
  • A faulty signal cable between PC and monitor can also cause colour problems, try a different cable if possible
  • Try it on a different computer to find out whether the computer or the monitor is the problem. If it's the monitor and none of the above works, it will need service or replacement. If it's the computer, your video card is likely to be the problem.

2 problems, monitor color and update possible?

well it sounds like the color scanning chips in the monitor are going<have gone> bad. If you have access to another monitor I would hook it to your system and see. XP may run, depends on your processor speed and RAM amount, also graphics can be an issue in XP

Colors are messed up

If You are using a CRT monitor (older Monitors similar to a TV) It may be time to replace it

Also you can try right clicking in a empty space on your desk top
go to properties>settings and check to see if your color quality is set to 32-bit

Double check you monitor connection

If all else fails your video adapter could be failing or you Monitor(VGA/DVI) cable is going bad
