Problem for Sony CFD-646 Boombox
We have a CD that somehow is stuck inside the Sony
We have a CD that somehow is stuck inside the Sony CFD-646 Boombox. My daughter went to take out the CDs that were in the 3-CD tray, and one CD somehow is now inside the machine. The strange thing is that it will play, but now we can't close the tray, and we can't get to the CD. Any ideas?

- Tried all that. Nothing doing. We've tried to open it up, but there appear to be 2 screws deeply embedded in the top and we don't have a screwdriver long enough to get in there. I guess I'll have to go buy a really long screwdriver to get to them, and then hopefully can get it open. I wish I had a service manual handy!Same Problem

- We've tilted it, shaken the box, even turned it upside down, and nothing happens. That CD is firmly in place and plays just fine. But we still can't close the tray or get the CD out. Any other ideas? - GuestBest Solution

Tilt it forward, eject the tray, and shake the box and see if it falls out.
If none of this works,maybe someone around can open the unit and manually remove disk,if not you will have to have it serviced.

- Unplug the unit,hit power button, leave unplugged for 5mins,plug in turn on and attempt to close the tray, stop disk,play,stop,eject.If none of this works,maybe someone around can open the unit and manually remove disk,if not you will have to have it serviced.

We had the same problem. If you can get the unit open you can remove the CD. There are 8 screws to remove, 2 on each side, 2 on the top and 2 on the back. You may have to turn the 3 white gears to release the CD from the reader. Plugged it back in and it works fine.
