My NEW Pixma ip3300 won't recognize my Cyan ink cartridge. It was working fine and then after a few prints (cartridge is still full) the cartridge isn't recognized. When I take it out and reinstall it the cartridge lamp goes on, but when the printer resets itself the cyan lamp goes out. I am aggravated and not sure what to do. I don't want to have to buy a new cartridge when this one is full. I have also turned the printer on and off and even restarted my comp... nothing works. I have taken out the print head and reinstalled it as well... didn't work. Any advice would be appreciated as I don't want to fight with Staples (where I bought it) to get it fixed.

I had the same problem (magenta cartridge light not lit, then Ok when removed and re-inserted , but eventually that didn't work anymore) with my first IP3300 and took it to the authorized repairer in Luton (postage would have been silly money ,and I was driving past.)
They sent me a new one in the post , but now a few months later , without a lot of use in between , the same problem is starting to re-occur .
I'd say that this was a common problem from what I've seen on the net.
If Canon don't sort this out under warranty again , I'll buy an HP printer for £30 rather than spend £10 on another poorly designed canon ink tank.

Same problem with the yellow cartridge.
I have decided, from now on I will bust this printer refilling the used cartridges using cheapest OEM inks and after that WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A PRINTER THAT COMES WITH MEMORY CHIPS ON ITS CARTRIDGES.
MFs tried to do this in Europe but got sewed for monopolism and EU printers are forbidden to have those chips but here in america we get screwed all the time.
I was a huga fan of Canon - no more!

Same as above, Cyan cartridge red light goes off and the feed button on the printer starts blinking.

My Canon pixma iP3300 won't receognize a new ink cartridge. I have taken it in and out, fiddled with it and made a few more copies, but now it is simply not working. I don't have time for this. I can't put it through the cleaning cycle because it says there is an ink problem. Ahhhggg.

Called Canon. It is a defective cartridge and they are going to send me a new one once I fax in my receipt for the purchase of the printer.

I did solve the problem by clearing all print jobs, turning the printer off and then on, and then running a cleaning cycle on the color nozzles. I don't know why this fixed things, but my yellow was suddenly recognized without any further fiddling.
