Dishwasher about 9 yrs old. Stopped draining at end of cycle about a week ago. I was able to set it to rinse only, start cycle, reset after 5 or so seconds and it would drain out. After about a week it won't drain out at all. I did research and removed the 2 filter areas in bottom and back and cleaned really good, removed the bulb shaped plastic thing left front and cleaned it.
I can't figure out how to remove the door to get better access.
I don't know how to remove the sprayer arm or what to check next.
HELP PLEASE!
Also - minor but door won't release most of the time to dispense second amount of detergent.
It sounds like the drain pump has gone bad.
First, unplug the unit or turn of the breaker, then remove as much water as you can with a wet vac if possible.
Remove the panels from the bottom of the front of the dishwasher (removing the big door won't help you) Then, disconnect the drain hoses from the pump (squeeze the hose clamps with pliers), any remaining water will come out when you do this, so you might want to put a thick towel underneath.
Pull out the wires—use pliers so you don't yank the wires out of the plugs, and remove the pump. Look inside and make sure there is nothing stopping the propeller- you may need to unscrew the pump from the plastic housing check.
If there is no blockage, it has likely just "gone bad" but to do one last check: take an old, two wire extention cord and carefully connect each wire to one of the prongs on the pump (make sure no stray wires "dangle" by using electrical tape if you need to) and plug it into a wall outlet.
If the propeller spins, something else is wrong with the machine but if it doesn't, you need a new one.
