Question about Frigidaire FRS23H7C Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ice maker only works for short time

I'm having problems with my ice-maker. I will get it to run until it fills up the ice storage tray but then it will stop working. I have to shut the ice maker lever off for a while and then flip it back on the next day and it will fill the tray up again and stop working. I couldn't find my model in here. It's a Frigidaire - FRS22WNC

My srf7520ss is not making ice

These fridges are renowned for this problem & even Samsung seem to not know the answer. BUT I DO & WILL SHARE.

I was about to replace the ice maker, as that is what everyone seems to recommend. BUT being a skinflint & a why is it so person, I decided to do some logical fault finding first.

There is this thing called fuzzy logic & these ice makers need to know you are using lots of ice, so as to make more.

I found that emptying a near full ice tray into a plastic bag & putting this bag in the freezer, the ice maker would not necessarily make more ice! If it did it was very little.

A few days of this & I decided to operate the ice discharger motor for like a minute & a half when the ice tray was empty.

Within 10 minutes one could hear water being loaded into the ice cube maker. Some time later the cubes being dropped into the tray & the filling/discharging process repeated, until next morning the tray was near full again.

In summer [like now, with our very hot 30*-38*C [90*-100*F] weather] I do this, all the time, so as to ensure we always have plenty of ice. Works everytime.

Away for an extended period, as we are often the tray will fill then no more [or turning off the ice maker while away] & the ice maker won't get back on track until you do the above.

Ice maker will not fill with water.

You mean " Why The Water Doesn't Fill the Tray in Kenmore Ice Maker?"
Am i right to your question? Well, Kenmore brand refrigerators often have an ice maker that uses the water supply to create ice inside the freezer compartment. Some models have an ice dispenser on the freezer door for easy access, and others simply create ice and deposit it into a tray inside the freezer. While most ice makers should work well with basic maintenance and care, issues may occasionally arise. One such problem is if the water does not fill the tray to create ice inside the ice maker. Resolving this issue may be possible through some troubleshooting efforts.

1 Remove the ice bin from the freezer.

2 Fill a turkey baster with hot water.

3 Spray hot water from the turkey baster into the tube at the back of the ice maker, which may be frozen or clogged.

4 Repeat spraying water into the tube until the blockage or frost is removed.

5 Replace the ice bin into the unit.
Please let me know if this help you.

Kenmore 56541 side by side icemaker nor making ice The in door water dispencer works Arm on tray is on no water getting to tray

1.Bad water valve located in the back bottom of refrigerator.
2. Frozen fill tube going into back of ice maker. (common problem)
3. Ice maker not cycling. Pour water into ice maker cavity until near filled.
Wait a few hours and see if it dumps.
4.In rare cases, the switch in the ice maker body fails. Ice maker will cycle but not tell water valve to refill.

Step2Unplug the refrigerator.
Step3Allow the refrigerator and to defrost. This will melt any large blocks of ice that have accumulated in the ice maker
Clean the Ice Machine

Step1Remove the ice machine storage tray.
Step2Dump any water in the ice machine storage tray.
Step3Wash the ice machine storage tray using warm, soapy water. Rinse and allow to dry completely.
Step4Sanitize the lines of the ice maker. Consult your manufacturer's
directions for steps to do this, because it's not available on all models.

Reassemble the Ice Maker

Step1Replace the ice machine storage tray.
Step2Plug the refrigerator into the outlet to restore power.
Step3Lower the internal power bar located just above the ice machine storage tray. This allows the ice machine to make new ice.

Kenmore refer #70162990 ice maker leaking into storage tray

Please confirm you have given the complete model number.

If the icemaker has a bail wire to control how much ice is in the bin, there is a fill switch inside the front cover of the ice maker which allows you to increase or decrease the amount of fill.

You may also have a cracked or corroded ice mold. Check by filling the icemaker with water manually, and watching to see if it drips once the initial overfill stops dripping. This would also be indicated by the ice cubes being smaller than usual.

Ice maker problem

Clear the Ice tray by pressing the button under the ice maker. The problem is that the ice is in the first couple of slots is not dumping and the tray tries to fill again and over flows. I pressed the button and cleared the tray of ice (This will tilt the tray and twist it to empty it) that was re-frozen several times without dumping. My ice maker works perfectly after I did the above. I think the problem arises if the door did not close completely. I stopped hanging the dish cloth on the door and on my LG Dish wisher. I hope this helps

Ice Maker Overflowing

i would recommend changing the water valves as they may be sticking or leaking now you can take the icemaker loose get a small baby bottle short the terminals to cycle water fill catch it with the bottle and see how much water it dumps should be about 4 ounces if the valve leaks will over fill the ice maker over a period of time say the valve is leaking a few drops at a time and the bail arm has the icemaker shut off because its touching ice in the bin but the water just keeps dripping down the fill tube till it runs over did you replace the whole icemaker or just the motor module
