Shutdown; red LED blinks 4x

Turn on the unit and the relay clicks with a solid green light then the relay clicks again and the red LED blinks in intervals of 4x. The screen never lights up. Is there an error code that coincides with the 4x blinking? I am a bench tech in need of some guidance/help/assistance. Philips MODEL 42PF5321D/37 thank you, carl

I have the same problem. Looking at the circuit boards when the last relay click and the red LED starts flashing, a small board in the top left corner has a green light thats blinking continuously. What does that indicate.

I have the same problem with my tube Philips TV. If I unplug it for a while, then plug it back in, it will start up okay, but then the problem will recur. I was told by the Philips help people that if you unplug it for 10-15 min, plug it back in, and immediately press and hold the power button on the TV for 10 sec, it will "reset." My experience with this is that it is only a temporary fix.

Ok guys i have the same problem. mine just shut down and wont turn on. plus the red LED flashes. I sent mine to the shop and they told me the Y SUSTAIN BOARD PCB needs to be replace. This shop is a toshiba registered shop so im assuming they are reliable. Now the problem is toshiba doesnt make the replacement parts anymore. So the shop called me and told me they cant fix it that i have to call toshiba myself and make some sort of bargaining deal. unfortunately I didnt buy the extended warranty that suck real bad. regardless the tv is only 2 years old. As far as i know toshiba should have replacement parts for atleast 7 years and this is by law. So I guess if they have more complaint about this dilemma for sure its a recall. more complaints the better. so guys start calling

The most likely reason for the no picture might be the back light is gone and needs to be replaced, now as for the LED light blinking on different intervals is because its diagnosing it self unfortunately the user manual does not have any information on this part only by contacting the Phillips customer support you might get a better idea, but check your back light first it may just be that. Also try to check your Manufacturer warranty repair.

The Error 4 is refering to a I2C4 communication error between SSB (small signal board), and the Logic board ( located underneath the SSB (under the bracket). Very high probability the SSB is bad. current replacement SSB 12nc is 313926809052

My panasonic th-42pwd8uk tv wont power on. When I press power it clicks to turn on then clicks again and the screen never shows up. No red lights no blinking lights just a solid green light.

Check the capacitors and replace the power components. It is an easy fix if handy with soldering electronics. Tv Repairman may charge less than $100.00 bucks to fix it !
Good luck

Hi Charles,

Sorry for the late reply, I'm offline upon purchasing my service.
You have said that you can hear a low buzzing sound before the unit gone to subsequent shutdown and the lamp blinks green(meaning that the unit try to turn on the lamp for consecutive attempts but not generally mean that the lamp itself is faulty.) and the temp led light come on.

As a matter of fact all the information you have mentioned linked to the symptoms you've encountered right now. A low buzzing sound might be caused by faulty FAN inside the unit that trigger the error code (blinking of the standby/temp led light) and turns off the unit automatically due to thermal protection circuit.
However, the technician might be true also that the buzzing sound came from the faulty color wheel. To confirm it, you have to verify where the buzzing sound came from. Color wheel is in front of the lamp assembly. Faulty color wheel can produce the same symptoms you've encountered right now but most of the time, it shows 3 blinking led light at the front panel (Timer, Lamp, standby/Temp).

I would advice you to open the back cover of your unit, fixed the lamp door safety switch with the tape to make it in closed position( if it is on open position the unit will not power up), and then turn on the unit and observe the fans if will spin or not, and check also where the buzzing sound came from before the unit gone to shutdown.
I've suspected that the fault came from the fan based on the led light flashes. Please let me know what you will discover after following the steps above to verify where the exact fault came from. Also, let me know the exact status of the led light at the front panel, (Timer, Lamp, standby/Temp ), which of them lit solid/blinking, it will help us to narrow the caused of the symptoms.

The last led light blinks green and sometimes it turns solid red

red light is stands for hardware boot and the green one is stands for system boot and disc boot. when red light remains solid it means your system is in 0% cpu usage and nothing doing, stop working

Wont light up

the colorwheel needs replacing. if the colorwheel won't spin, the lamp won't light. if you hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel works, which means there is a power supply issue. there is a fix for that, but you have to be good at soldering. if you are give it a try: http://www.infocus.com/service/asc/communications/tech_notes/2006/09/tn495g.pdf

The Power Light is Red

yeah, should stay red when unit is turned off, indicating there's power but it's doing nothing.

Per user manual:
Solid red - power off (standby mode)
blinking red - power off (now cooling)
blinking green - power on (preparing to light lamp)
solid green - power on

50" philips won't power on. get the 4x red blink led light

i have fixed 3 of this tv, with that exact problem in the last 2 weeks, needs a power supply, you can try to unplug it again, plug it in, hit the power button, as soon as it turns green, unplug it again, after 15 seconds , plug it back in, if power doesnt turn on by itself, turn it on, if it turns red again, emediatily hit power again, may have to hit power a few times in a row, but most of the time you can get it to come on this way, once it is on, it should run ok, until you turn it back off, but not a fix, needs power board
