Light Engine? (The white light will roll for a couple minutes then turn red indicating i need to replace my bulb but it never gave anykind of warning. The manual mentions a orange light should appear when bulb is about done, but that never happened. I'm curious if I should replace the bulb or if it is something else. I've had the TV for about 18 months) I had this same problem, replaced the bulba dn still nothing. Then they told me to replace the light engine which acording to them is another $800.00. Are there any other possibilities?

Re: Light Engine?

Tony! I had the same problem and here is the story I checked the bulb and it was cool so I called a guy since checking the balast is dangerous and you need the parts. The problem with this tv is that there is no good method for checking a problem they just plug parts in untill it works that being said he had my tv for a month. (due to having to order more parts. it could be the color wheel or different boards. for some reason my color wheel and two boards were shot so it cost me 900 bucks. I have a good surge protector so I ruled that out. From now on I will buy Samsung. after that it worked; however, shortly there after my lamp went out. I made a loud popping sound and I replaced it myself. A good place to buy a new lamp is the part number is GTL-OS-69386. its after market however it seems better than what I had.

Re: Light Engine?

Try removing the lamp and inspecting it if it's not shattered inside ,chances are it's ok and you might have another problem ,possible balast fault, that drives the lamp assy. look for fan operation also.

I have an LG DLP. that turns off after 15 -30 seconds

If the second light is blinking to orange or red, that is usually the lamp indicator light on an LG DLP tv. That indicates your bulb needs replaced, or something surrounding the bulb has failed (like the cooling fan for the bulb for example) IF you have a spare bulb handy, I'd replace the bulb, keeping in mind if you touch any part of a new bulb with your bare hands, you just cut the life of the bulb by more then half.

Picture cycles off and on

I replaced a burned out xl-2000u bulb with an after-market Philips bulb on my Sony KF60XBR800. After a fews weeks, I started experiencing intermittent black-outs with the "stand by" red light appearing. After a couple weeks it became intolerable. I then purchased an OEM Sony lamp and the problem has been gone for months. I read somewhere that the Sony circuitry monitors either resistance or watts and shuts the thing down for board protection. It was said that it is so sensitive it can can use only the Sony bulb. I'm a believer. If the bulb is going bad, i wouldn't doubt the protection circuit can kick in.

LG DLP not turning on

well i know what the problem is... if your getting the white scroll and then the red light flashes but the fans are comming on and you got a new bulb the broblem is the ballast. i know cuz i had the same problem and a good friend of mine has a tv shop and i had him look at it but the good news is that its not that hard to change. if you try to go through LG thay wont be able to sell you the ballast if your just a coust. good news is that you can fined the ballast on ebay from s.gifeasywaylamps its about $130.00 bucks shiped. bad news about is that thay are from china(it is where i got mine) but it works great and hasent gave me a broblem yet. if any one eles has the same problem and it was something eles.... PLEASE POST IT. i hope my info has been helpful to someone.... thanks Brad Ross of East Moline Illinois... you can email me at

Red light on no picture will work fine after several minutes

There is a list of things you need to check, but offhand I'd say that the 5 volt line is low and probably right on the"edge", which is why it works sometimes and not others take a look at this list:
Cause #1
1. (Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for
12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check
for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part #
283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. (Lamp may light and go out)
Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if
low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the
Power PCB (part # 930B921002) 4. At power on the lamp turns on and off three
times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the
Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch
to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light
Engine part # 939P977010 6. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the
Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on and does go to 0-volts (low)
after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Lamp Power PCB
(ballast) part # 939P978010 7. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the
Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-
volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light
Engine part # 939P977010

I would say try #3 first, the two caps on the pwer supply board. A couple of warnings: as always, unplug the unit before servicing. The power supply is located on the left side, if you behind the unit. It is in a shielded box and the shield has VERY SHARP EDGES so use care when you try to open it or you will slice your fingers.

Flashing Green Power on light not picture

Last Saturday evening, I experienced the exact same behavior on my Panasonic PT-52LCX65; it shut itself off without warning. I turned it back on, and it shut itself back off after about a minute, and the red "Lamp" LED on the TV began blinking.

I never got any warning message that the lamp was about to go out, but I've just replaced the lamp and now the TV is working just fine. We had to mail-order the new lamp, because neither H. H. Gregg (where I bought the TV on "Black Friday" 3 years ago), Fry's Electronics, nor Best Buy carries the part locally.

My wife found the new bulb WITH its holding apparatus for something like $120 online, roughly half what other sites were charging. We paid roughly $55 for UPS Next Day Air. The first bulb that was sent arrived broken (some UPS rep apparently thought "Fragile" meant "Shake and Drop"), but the company we ordered from cheerfully rushed us another one, and the second one was in much better shape. (Panasonic doesn't pack these replacement bulbs very well; there's a heavy bulb with a lot of air around it that Panasonic doesn't fill.)

More details available if anyone wants 'em. Hope this helps. -- ChuckE

Lg 52sx4d problem

If the red light scrolls through, you need to replace the bulb. I replaced the my own bulb, and when I tried to turn on the tv the light kept scrolling. What was wrong? I DIDNT FULLY REASSEMBLE THE TV AFTER REPLACING THE BULB.

Make sure that all the screws are put back in and it will probably work if you have replaced the bulb.

I have a LG RU-44SZ61D DLP TV and recently replaced the bulb. After about two months the TV went really dim and then started shutting off. The problem increased to the point where you couldnt have the tv...

DLPs have flow chart trouble shooting techniques to pinpoint exactly why your set isnt completeing the boot sequence. If you would like the service manual for your model let me know and i will post a link where you can purchase a complete one.

TV not turning on

its probably pretty close to time at 18 months and they often give no warning, I believe the orange light on an LG is just the lamp timer which really just counts hours. Pull the lamp out and look at it they often physically break inside and it is obvious
