Question about NEC (MTLAMP820/1020) Projector Lamp for MT820, 102

NEC MT820 Projector

Hi, I have just replaced the lamp in my NEC MT820. I do not have a remote control for this product anymore. The 'status' light is continually red and the 'power' light is orange. The problem is that I cannot turn on the projector to reset the status of the lamp - or do anything else. It simply does not shoot any light.

My nec projecter lamp status is just red on and not working any idea

Usually the unit will go into permanant standby if the lamp life exceedes its safe limit. I had the MT830/1030. To reset it I had to press the off button down for upto 20seconds which resets the lamplife. If not the off button it was the on button.

Good luck

Red colour does not appear on screen.

It sounds like you have a bad VGA cable. Check for a bent or broken pin in the cable. These often show up as a loss of one particular color: red, green, or blue.

When we connect a Latitude D610 to any NEC projector it won't project to the screen. What should we check?

Did you switch the display from the laptop to external? Can't remember exactly but there is a key about in the middle top of the keyboard that looks like a screen. You have to hold function/code then hit that key to turn on the external display.

I have a NEC mt1055 and the unit just had new bulb put in here and it has the power and standby light come on and the fan doesn't turn on here and the standby light is yellow and status is red

The NEC’s work on a reducing time basis, they count the hours that they have been operational and refer to this as the life of the bulb – 1600 hours. When the 1600 hours has been reached the projector shuts itself down into standby mode never to be restarted even after changing the bulb / filters. This is because the unit needs to be reset, which needs to be done as follows (not included in any of the bulb replacement instructions):-
  • Plug Projector in so it is in standby mode – Orange light lit, Red status light lit (not flashing)
  • Using the remote control, hold down the power off button for 30-45 seconds
  • This will reset the status button, removing the red light
  • Power up the projector and select Menu
  • Select Projector Options
  • Select Set-up – a number of tabs will appear called pages
  • Arrow across the pages (MT850 is Page 5) until an option called “RESET LAMP HOURS” is shown
  • Move onto this option and press enter on the projector itself, confirm that you want to reset the counter
  • Projector is now back to life

This works for all NEC projectors, the page number may be different though where the “RESET LAMP HOURS” option resides.

NEC MT1050 Lamp Error

Does the status light stay on red? If it does then the lamp timer has exspired and will not let the projector turn back on until it is reset, at which time you should replace the lamp. To reset the timer you need the remote control, with the unit plugged in in standby mode hold down the power off button for 30 to 45 seconds until the status light goes off.

Nec projector vt590 doesn't project RED

Red, Green, and Blue signals come from different wires in the VGA cable.  This sometimes happens if a cable simply is not connected fully.  But it will also happen if the cable is damaged.  The damage might be visible in the form of a bent, broken, or missing pin.  Or it might be internal to the cable.
Try another cable.
If that's not it, then the connector on either your computer or on the projector itself might be damaged.
Also try another computer.
Components inside the projector could also fail.  But I'd bet on a cable problem any day.
