It's either a trojan running in the back ground, so run an antispyware programme and anti virus or it could be a corrupt updated driver, so if you have had no problem before this started it will be easier to do a system restore in accesories>system tools menu to the day before it started to hang.

going off your lasr comment there is a system fault, keep pressing F8 when booting up and when in safe mode select last known good configuration, hit enter for a reboot and see if that goes into windows

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Laptop hangs on logging off screen

try closing IE manually by opening task manager. right click on the taskbar> start task manager>processes>right click iexplorer.exe>end process. i would suggest you switch to chrome if the problem persists. usually however when a system hangs at logoff or shutdown it's because it has too many programs running. you should install an app that can help you manage which apps start with windows. i recommend CCleaner to do general pc cleanup as well.. when you have it running go to tools>startup to manage all those apps that bog down your computer.

Laptop hanging off

If your laptop is hanging while you are working, press this combination keys:
Ctrl Alt Del.
If you are using windows XP, it should automatically take you to task manager.
But if you are using windows vista or windows 7, it would show you options, of which you are to select 'task manager'.
End the tasks the are not responding by right clickin it and selecting 'end task'.
If that task still refuses to end, still in the task master pane, go to 'processes'.
Select the processs running the nonresponsive task. Eg, if internet explorer is the non responsive task, the process would be 'explorer.exe'.
End that process.

If it stil doesnt work, then select 'end all processes', and restart the system.
Hope this was helpful?
Success.

I can't install xp sp2. configuration is intel 845ge motherboard, 1.7 celeron processor, 256dd ram and 40gb hdd. It hang up at 34 munits remaing. but win98 is installed.

if the last message is performing cleanup or something like that. And you never did run disk cleanup in your harddrive you might have lots of unnecessary files at TEMP, Temporay internet files and etc. folder. thats why the installation looks hanging, to check if your PC is hangging or reading open the Task manager and see if its processing... or there are numbers moving around.

also look the RECYCLER folder if the size is suspecious. (2GB or more)

Freaquently hanging the laptop

Have you wipe the entrie system, if you there must be a program which is causing this, check the task manager see what program is running, go to processes and see which file is using up the cpu and mem usage.

My windows vista hangs often;

Download process explorer

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx'

Extract the program, make a shortcut and copy the shortcut to

START MENU- PROGRAMS - STARTUP
Now every time you start the computer process explorer will start up and you can kill any processes you need

also you can disable programs from startup by

start -> run -> msconfig -> startup tab

Computer will not shut down

I have not switched to Vista, but I would try starting the Task Manager (right click on the task bar and select task manager). Then I would select the Processes tab and start killing processes to see if you can track down which one is causing your problem. Assuming you can narrow this problem down to a single process you'll at least have a fighting chance at solving fixing this.

Good luck.

Acer Travelmate 2420 PROBLEMS :(

Try to turn off automatic updates. Right-click on MyComputer icon, select properties, Click on Automatic Updates, turn off automatic updates. Maybe it's trying to download updates automatically and this will slow down the computer. If that is the problem, you have to make sure you get all your updates manually first and then change back settings to automatically download updates afterwards. Please let me know if this still doesn't help.
