Motorola K1 Address book alphabetisation

Hi Trying to alphabetise my address book. When I go into my address book & select Set Up I can't change my Sort order from mixed to stroke sequence. How can I send a text msg or make a call without having to scroll through every person in my address contacts? It won't let me even search for a name by typing the first letter of the name. PLEASE HELP ME

Thank you for your help. After you have typed in *carl*, do you press anything? If I type in carl, it does not go to the *C's*. My address book is sorted by first name. It's very frustrating as you can imaging.

Do you have your address book sorted by first or last name, first/last and name/picture are the only options I have.  but when I open the address book, I can type names to jump to, one letter at a time, just like typing in a name... like 3332777555 for 'carl'.

There's nothing that needs to be done after, it should jump down to it.  If it's not working that way, you might try backing up your phone book with the motorola phone tools, or, if you've got the phonebook stored in a sim card, you'd be ok, then do a master reset on the phone, if that doesn't fix it, I suggest you return it for warranty work, because something's messed up in it's firmware.

it should be six zeros, unless it's been changed.

from the manual: Master Reset: Reset all options EXCEPT unlock code, security code, and lifetime timer: menu>settings>initial Setup> Master Reset.   So, your content should be safe.  A master *CLEAR* erases all information you've entered, including phonebook and calendar, and content downloaded, including photos and sounds, .... so don't do that unless you're getting rid of the phone.

System date keep on change

i would do a master reset... but remember, this clears all data (except provider sw) from your phone... so make sure your address book is saved to your sim and if you have important msgs/pics/vids/audio, email them to yourself because the reset will clear them

You have changed the name of the drive. Mac desktop works on alphabetised lists.

Address Book access

When you are on the phone with someone look at your screen. On the right hand side it will say options. Click the key under it and it will bring up a menu, one of the top 3 will be for Phonebook. I belive it is the very first option, but I can't remember.
