check and see if the shell stop hasn't broken loose. this on the inside left side of the action . this could stopping the next shell in the mag. from being loaded. this not uncommon. but is an easy fix. a gun smith can stake it back in . in a few minutes for around $20.00
I have a Remington 742 automatic rifle that will not eject shell after firing. I have taken to gunsmith who will not even take it out of the case. Told to throw away, sell or get rid of it and get another. What can be done to correct my problem.
Simple take a wood screw and insert it in the spent shell. Gently apply downward pressure while turning the screw a partial thread in. Then use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull it out using the 476's casing as a leverage point. Just did this and worked well. Allen key and pocket knife ideas did not work as the shell is too tight in the chamber.
You have a shell stop that is either bent or worn, I think there are 2 in there, would have to look. Go to Gunparts.com for the view and order parts, might find them on ebean. Hope th is helps.
Not certain for sure, but that part is called the extractor. It's a tiny hooked shaped device that grabs the rear part of the shell to eject the shell. Good Luck
