Dishwasher appear to be clogged

Maytag dishwasher appears to be clogged - water does not appear to be reaching the dishes. I saw someone recommending to remove upper arm and clean it but I don't appear to have upper arm but a single piece that goes from top to bottom. How do I fix that?

Re: Dishwasher appear to be clogged

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem. Good luck

My Maytag dishwasher (MDB955AWS) will not drain ans is not cleaning the dishes properly.

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound. If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve.

Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete.
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.

The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Film on dishes

The problem is hard water. Your dishes may be etched which cant be fixed. But you can fix the problem from happening again. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to to find out more info.

Maytag Dishwasher Will Not Rinse

You are probably not getting enough water into the machine. Replace water inlet valve (solenoid valve) and this should solve the problem.

Your dishwasher probably has rotating blades on the top and bottom that spray water on the dishes.  Clean these off and make sure the holes are not clogged.
