Problem for Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor

Same problem, acer sucks imo

I have been using my monitor without problems until I recently started using a dual monitor setup. My primary display Acer AL2216W is connected to my Radeon X800 XL through the DVI connection and my secondary display Sony KDL-40Z4100 LCD TV is connected through VGA. Whenever I turn off my Acer AL2216W and turn it back on I get no signal. The only way I can get the signal back is if I restart the computer or unplug the DVI cable and plug it back in. But when I do that the Sony KDL-40Z4100 takes over as the primary display. Right now my only solution is to just not turn off my Acer AL2216W but I would like to fix this so I can turn it on and off when I want. Any ideas or fix to this problem?

- Just rebooted and it's still working with dual monitor. Must of been something in the new ATI drivers.

Clarification Request

Sounds like you've done things correctly. If you unplug the DVI cable, the VGA is supposed to take over, but what I don't get is why your DVI signal dies after reboot. Is that what happens? Or do both DVI and VGA die after reboot? Sorry to ask because you describe the problem well. Very curious problem...hmmm

-   Disgusting Services by ACER...
Dear ALl,
This is to share my Personal Experience about that ACER's Customer Care, and and want to say that its services SUCKS all the consumers. It has been around a month that i purchased a new ACER ASPIRE 5738, and finding that it is not shipped with Vista X64 applications and drivers, complained about it.
Since then till now, i had tried complaining/ contacting you via all the means provided by you, but even this simple driver and application problem can not be solved by your support center.........
i am sorry to say that a company that doesn't cares about its customers, and is so obsessed by its products (as can be seen from all your websites which talk only og the machines and not the human experience out of it), ACER is sure to be doomed.
I am saying this not only as an unfortunate buyer of your product, but as an MBA- MArketing, and as an avid technology user/ reviewer/ blogger.

Similar problem with Acer AL2216W - sometimes DVI input don't work properly (but analog in works well in the same time) and I have blackness on panel - I just need to change resolution on my ATI video card for a moment and return to native 1680x1050 (resetting of the monitor?) and things go right. This is my 1st and last time when I bought Acer product. I just opened up and replaced few bulging capacitors (CapXon - known cheap ****) and I will never buy Acer again!!! It's simply ****!

I think I may have fixed it but I haven't rebooted my computer yet. I uninstalled the latest ATI driver version 9.3 and then installed an older driver version 7.3. Monitor now turns on and off and gets signal every time so far. I'll post back if it the problem comes back after I reboot.
