I can read cd or dvds but can't burn them

Slimtype DVD ROM unable to read self made DVDs ONLY...

Can anyone please help me......
I have HP Pavillion dv6345us
with
Slimtype DVD A DS8AZH ATA Device
as
DVD RW drive
from past few months I m facing a problem that
DVD ROM is unable to read DVDs that i write with Nero or windows (or previously written data DVDs)
but DVD ROM can read any CDs and original DVDs
and also the data DVDs can still be made which are readable on other systems,
SO, there is nothing wrong with the drive as Original DVDs can be read easily.
I have googled a lot for the solution and tried every solution I found but condition is still the same.
Initially I did the registry solution given by microsoft and it was rectified but after few months I found the problem has again started occuring and this time I am unable to rectify it. (as registry is already changed)
I have tried unistalling the product like everyone says as a solution and restarted the system, the drivers got installed through windows but the problem still remains.
I am unable to find the driver for Slimtype DVD A DS8AZH ATA Device
on the internet
I heard of Fixya a lot from my friends.
I hope I will get a solution here

thanks for the reply...
mine HP Pavilion dv6345us is a laptop and the DVD ROMs are custom made for each laptop model by HP... so it will b hard to get a replacement
will installing xp resolve the problem???

I found this problem to more users of this model ..the only thing I can advice you is to try to change with another comp model ....some have a lot of theories ..about it ...and long fixes..but It seems that the problems came with some vista updates ...so ..either get on xp sp3...cause its reliable ..or change it ..cause it will never work proper..

this is the address from where I decided that going back to xp will fix your problems...
anyway ...first be sure you have all the drivers for the sound and lan conexion ...and image ...and then you may try ...I am still running xp sp3 ...and Im more than contempt ...I have no desire what so ever to use vista ...cause it seams that its full of issues related of drivers ..and updates that do not work ...and it consumes a lot of resurses ..bringing nothing that important ..but some graphics ...that arent that impressionat..:P Good luck ...and if you have any problems ..just post coments and I receive mails...

- I looked for it today ..I will look for ..but I suspect that it is not present cause it is loading automatically on OS installation .. and yes ..I do believe that installing xp will fix it .....you can also try to reinstall nero with a secure and licensed one ..I don't believe that is anything wrong with the drive ...cause it still runs several type like original dvd ..http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070420210852AASl6B5
