check with your network provider for the message centre number for your network. You may have to manually punch it in. Go into your messages once you are given the number by your network provider click onto text messages. then click onto message centre number. Enter number given to you by your network provider. you should be able to receive and send messages unless your storage capacity in your phone has depleted. just delete unwanted data should this is this case.
do you have 3g turned on? if you do and still have trouble, go onto your networks website, go to the existing customers bit and request a text message with the mms settings. open the message they send and follow the instructions
For picture messaging there are a couple of things you and the other person needs...
1, A MMS capable phone, e.g a phone able to send and receive picture messages.
2, The correct MMS settings, both you and your friend needs settings for picture messaging, just like you need settings for going onto the net.
3, On some networks, the service has to actually be turned on by the network. e.g some networks who are behind dont have the service turned on for everyone you have to actually call them and make sure picture messaging is enabled on your account.
My first thing to check would be number 2, make sure you and your friend have the correct settings for sending and receiving picture messages, if they dont have the settings on there phone, even if your phone does then they will not receive the picture. There are a couple of ways to get the settings. 1, You can search for the correct settings on the net for your network and make and model of handset and then manually enter them (slow) 2, Most decent manufacturers have an option on their website e.g Nokia, Sony Ericsson, to select your phone model, type in your phone number and network and have the settings sent directly to you. 3, You can call the network and get them to send the correct settings to your handset.
