We have a Maytag side by side refrigerator. We were out of town on business, came home to a layer of water in kitchen and dining room, door shelves of refrig. and refrig. drawers. I have had a layer of ice in bottom of freezer for awhile also.
Sounds like your icemaker is overfilling if you are finding a layer of ice in your freezer compartment. I would change your water valve located in the back of the unit. Or look at the icemaker to see if there is ice cycles hanging down from the tray. If you do not see any, you may want to look at your freezer drain to see if it is clogged causing water to be drained in your home. Coulc be several different things honestly. Hope this helps!
