Question about Olympia Startype 3 Typewriter
This machine seems to start up normally with a return reset to the left side then it lifts the ribbon plate up to the correction position and stops with a constant alarm until turned off. The printwheel does start to rotate slightly and the carraige can be moved freely by hand while the alarm sounds. Nothing is displayed in the LCD at any time.
On the left side of the carrier you will find a broken wire inside the bundle of wires. This is usually blue or black and goes to the printwheel motor. You can try resoldering.

A couple things to check, lift the cover and make sure there is nothing obstructing the carrier from moving completely to the left. Also make sure your correction tape is not interfering with the print wheel. Try taking both the ribbon and correction tape out and see if the machine will go to ready. If this does not help let me know and we can check a couple other things, But try that first. John
