Question about Uniden BCD996T Base Scanner

1 Answer

1.2.3.Guide For the Uniden BCD996T is there a 1.2.3 guide on how to put new channels in etc. The manual is to hard and the computer software is to basic. My husband is having lots of difficulty using this radio and to be frank he wishes he had never bought it. He never thought it would be so hard. Is there some where he can get help so this is just not an expensive toy sitting on the shelf? Are there classes? Thank You, Susan

Re: 1.2.3.Guide

Try this link:

The scanner memory is different than others in the way that it is organized. But the basic syntax is: SYSTEM/GROUP/CHANNEL.

Don't give up. It's a great little scanner.

Uniden Bearcat BCD996T will not squelch, just has constant noise on every channel. Any ideas on what has happened

Have you done a reset just to make sure something such as static did not change the software in the microprocessor? Try that before you go to a repair shop.

Need manual for uniden scanner bc155xl

I couldn't find a manual for this oldie, but here's programming guidance from Uniden:

Here are basic instructions for programming nearly all of the older scanners that Uniden produced.

When the scanner is turned on press the MANUAL key, then press the channel number that you want to program first, then the MANUAL key again. This will stop the scanner from scanning and hold it on the channel that you want to program.
Then you enter the frequency (be sure to use the decimal point in the right area when entering in the frequency) and then press the E or ENTER button to save the frequency on the channel. You are now finished programming the channel. To advance to the next channel simply press the MANUAL key and enter your next frequency the same way that you entered it on the previous channel (as described at the beginning of this paragraph).

I hope this helps.

I need to program my bcd996t police scanner.

I have uploaded a pdf format manual for you if you do not have this.

also I hear there is a cd that comes with it too this might be handy to locate as well.

if you are wanting police frequencies please do a search for them on eg. "las vegas police frequencies" ect and you should find alot of codes for your area.

How to startup a radio scanner

1. Press and hold the Pwr button for 2 seconds.
2. Follow instuctions in your manual on how to program frequencies into the channels. You need to know what frequencies are used in your area for whatever you want to scan, like Police, Fire, 911, etc...

For example, in my area, Weather is on 162.5250 MHz.

Hope that helps....

Uniden bcd996t

Hello wfd88,

You need a copy of Uniden Advanced Scanner Director software. You can download the software from in the Customer Service Downloads link.
Also, as a reminder, you need to use the cable supplied with the scanner and, if I recall correctly has a Uniden custom connector on one end and a serial connector on the other. If you do not have such a cable, Uniden sells a USB to Serial converter under the model USB-1.
If, during transfer, you get an error message, reduce the scanner’s serial port speed setting and start again until you get reliable, complete transfer of data.
Let me know if this helps.
