Hitachi Big Screen TV 46 inch Problem

I recently turned on my television and there are blue and yellow shadows on the right side of all the images. What is wrong?

I was told that the 2 chips that sync the color need to be replaced, since I have red and blue shadows, and the automatic sync button does not clear it up. Can I purchase and install these myself? or is it something that it needs to go to a shop to be repaired?

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and Hitachi Big Screen TV 46 inch Problem - 2c07611.pngeplaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Convergence could be going out. Is color misaligned on right side? Or is the pic clear with shadows?

The model indicated uses what is called a Optical Light Engine, it is a very expensive part and likely is your problem---not much else will cause this trouble.

Let me know if you have questions.

Convergence problems, you would need to replace convergence amps and look for any return resistors to replace. The big STK's-*** are the amps.
