How to tell if brushes on rascalmob. 388xl need replaced as scooter running slow?

The motor will run hot when the brushes are worn. If the scooter is used daily and runs a lot, brushes could be the problem. They are not difficult to replace.

Wrong question previously asked... The correct one is fault with: Sterling saphire mobility scooter 10 short bleeps and two long ones?

Depending on which way the s-drive controller is programmed, this could mean one of 2 things:
Firstly, low battery voltage. Check batteries and all associated connections, and make sure the scooter is fully charged.
Secondly (and most likely) the 2 bleeps means you have an issue with the Motor, and / or its connections. Check motor brushes, and the connections under the scooter, which is usually a white plug underneath the scooter, near the rear wheels, and ensure no muck or water has got into the connections. If the brushes and connections are ok, then chances are you need to replace the motor.

I need info or specs on a C.T.M. mobility scooter HS-686 motor model 1110-938

hi, my understanding that is a 350 to 400 watt , 24v motor, now the exact wattage should be stamped on a label mounted on motor, resistance wise you looking at about 0.4 to 1.0 ohms, that is the resistance of the brushes etc. Poorly fitted brushes or brushes that are deformed ( is the string ok ) will result in a higher resistance. are you looking for a like to like replacement.

Gogo ultra runs making noises

What shape are the brushes in on the motor? If the copper wire is discolored that indicates over current. The armature may have a shorted winding after an extended overheat condition. You may get lucky by just cleaning the surface of the armature where the brush contacts it.

Old Zippy electric scooter has little power and dies after about 20minutes. Batteries have been checked by an "expert" and passed OK. Can see no excessive current drain.

Well Richard I guess there's nothing wrong if the expert said the batteries were good. Could be in need of brushes on the motor. There should be caps over the brushes that can be removed to check the brushes. If they have excessive wear say 3/8 inches long or less then they need to be replaced. But my first fix would be to replace the batteries, give them a good charge before use and see if that increases your drive time. Of course replacing worn brushes can't hurt either. Good luck hope this helps

Invacare Zoom 220 mobility scooter will not run

Hi. When the machine is on, does it display a flashing light or LED on the display for a fault code? Is the free-wheel lever switch operating correctly?
You might have a sticky brush in the motor. Take the brushes out and check their condition. If the brush caps are not tight enough then the current arc's on to the side of the brush, and it jams in the brush holder.
Check the resistance through the motor before touching the brushes. Check motor and battery connectors for continuity and any sign of heat or melted plastic. Check operation and resistance of the brake unit. Most controllers in mobility scooters are quite reliable, so always eliminate all other possibilities before looking at the controller. Good luck. Neil.

Motor overheating and cutting out

this could be because the brushes need replacing, they are easy to find on the motor.
