Question about iRiver Clix Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Syncing songs Everytime I try to play a song my device freezes for a moment and then says "to play this track you must sync your device to you pc." I did sync it (using napster), many times, but it still wont play. I haven't used the device in a while but decided to start using it again. I deleted all the songs that were on there form before and I did not check to see if those played. Help me please! I'm so frustrated!

I had the same problem... I re-downloaded the particular songs this message appeared with from itunes, right clicked them in C>mydownloads and selected "open with windows mediaplayer11". Then, I re-synched them with mediaplayer. Now, for some reason, they work just fine...

Recently subscribed to Rhapsody (updated from Urge) and now find that the device posts a message that songs haven't been properly synched when I know I have, and the device now cuts off unexpectedly and will not restart. I contacted Rhapsody, and their tecnicians, after some diagnosis, say that I needt to go to Iriver and download new software for proper operation. Please advise. The device now seems next to useless.

I solved my problem, i think, by reformatting the player. the iriver tech help offered several methods to reformat, which didn't work. but this did: settings,--advanced,--format device. this will delete everything on the player, but now it can sync successfully.

Test the songs that are not playing on the iPod in iTunes and see if the original file is still playable on iTunes if the song still plays re-sync your iPod could be when iTunes copied the song it must have failed or timed out, if that fails re-syncing try restoring you iPod Nano i have had this problem before and I just re-synced and it worked fine!

Yes, unfortunetly that does happen a lot! Sometimes the songs do not get transferred very well. Its usually a glitch sometimes in the programming. I usually try to download the same song again.

Read you user's manual.
The songs are in shuffle mode - you need to go into the settings menu and get it out of shuffle mode.

Error when loading songs

Here's what another user did - let me know if it works:
ok so i called 1-866-sandisk and she told me how to fix it. you just flip the key lock at the top so you see orange, then hold down the record button. then you should get some sort of message on the screen. then you plug it in and under my computer a file should show up. you open it and make a folder in it called sansa.fwm (i think thats the right folder name, if not, try sansa.tmp or email me). then you unplug it and it should say formatting or something like that. once its done it should work.

The song does not have transfer rights - you must upgrade to Napster To Go.

Auto deleting songs we wanted there argghhhhh!

If you are using Windows Media Player to synchronise the MP3 player, you need to change the Sync settings, from auto to manual.

If the Sync option is set to Automatic, then Windows Media Player will synchronise your PC and your player, so they have the same tracks. Unfortunately, if a track is deleted from the PC or the MP3 player, then Media Player will delete it from the other.
However, Media Player may have only deleted the tracks from its library, and not from the PC. If you go to My Documents ----> My Music, you can see if the files are still there.

The Manual sync setting allows you to drag and drop files from the Media Player library on to your player as you wish.

Assuming you are using Media Player, connect the MP3 player to the PC.

Open Windows Media Player.

Right-click the Sync tab and select Tools -----> Options.

Click on the Devices tab and select your player from the list then click properties.

In the window that pops up, click on settings, then click the button next to manual to change from auto.

Click on Finish, then close the other windows by clicking on Apply or Ok, until you are back to the main Media Player screen.

You should now be able to transfer your tracks manually.

If this doesn't work, give more details, including make and model of player, and the software you are using for transfer, and I'll try to help further.

10sec play

try reseting it. then resyncing your ipod. to reset it, simply push the middle button down, and the menu button at the same time. a few seconds later and the ipod should reset. then sync the song that had the problem onto the ipod and see if it works. (no point in syncing all your songs becuase if reseting it doesnt work you wasted alot of time syncing songs for nothing)

best of luck : )

When trying to play song it says no license to play track

Have you tried plugging your player into the PC and syncing some tracks to see if the licenses get renewed?

Phillips Gogear 30G Playing problems

The device itself is not faulty. This is Microsoft's fault, not Philips'. Microsoft no longer supports Jukebox. Use Windows Media Player instead.

Some of the songs may have Digital Rights Management (DRM) encoding that the player will not support (once again, Microsoft's fault, not Philips). You can right click on the trouble music file, select "Properties," and select the License or Digital Right tab - look for the msg: This file is not copyright protected. Find out if the songs that CAN'T be transferred have this message. If so, then click on acquire digital rights (or some variant of that phrase). If the files tha CAN'T be transferred DO have Digital rights protection, then you must save the files in a different format that is stripped of DRM encryption.
