Parker Vision Router WR1500

I cannot remote into my server using Remote Desktop. I could before with a Linksys, but not with the ParkerVision. I can't figure out what's blocking me?

You need to forward the remote desktop port to your server. The Remote Desktop port is 3389. Go to the port forwarding section of your router and find out your Server's network IP address and assign it to forward the Remote Desktop port of "3389". Save your changes and try connecting again.

If the games are in fact, "yours" then you can configure your game server to publish on the normal HTTP port (80). Then, you will have no trouble at all.

I hope this is helpful,

Configure the 3COM to direct all incoming 3389/TCP traffic to 3389/TCP on the "private" IP-address (192.168.xx.yy) of your server.
Configure your server to "allow" Remote Desktop connections, and add the ID/password details that will be allowed to login to your server.

I have a WRT54G Linksys Wireless Router and can not VPN or Remote to a server from behind it

It is a passthrough router. you can not create a tunnel using this router. Now if you are using any VPN software to connect to the network then you can try to open the ports on the router.
Reduce the MTU to 1365.
open the ports - 500 , 443-447, 1723, 10000-2000
Try this.
If your router is old then upgrade the firmware of the router.

Type 192.168.1.1 on your browser's address bar. You will see a login dialog box .
Type your username & password and login to device.
A web page will appear , you can go to security section & select virtual servers.
From virtual servers section you can create port you want either TCP or UDP.

Thanks and Regards

New internet provider and now can not use remote viewing

If you have changed Internet Providers (which I assume you have considering you refer to changing from DSL to Cable modem), your "location" on the Internet has also changed.

Try going through the setup process with your Slingbox again as if it were the first time you had installed it.

Remote Login Failure

This message means that the user account you are trying to use does not have rights to log on remotely. You need to go to the server, log on as an administrator at the console. Once logged in, add the user account you want to use to the local "Remote Desktop Users" group.

How to limit remote access to a Termional Server

The best way to do this that I've found is to restrict the access via your firewall. Typically, Terminal server is listening on port 3389. So you would create rules in your firewall that will block any traffic to this port from IP addresses or subnets that you don't trust. While you're at it, you should shut down all other ports to everyone if you're not using them.
