Question about Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 SpinScrub Upright Vacuum
I bought the Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac SpinScrub from a garage sale today. It seems to be in great shape, and has the tube and attachments, but I can't figute out how to attach the part that should go into the lower collection unit. The tube has a place where it is obvious, but I can't figure out how the end away from the collection (hand tool) part is attached to the unit. It didn't come with a manual, and I can't find one online. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much if you can!
You are trying to put the tool on upside down. The half moon should be towards the bottom , just like a big smile, the tool attachment sits up off the bottom, I know I was trying to force it down in the wrong direction too. Hope this makes sense to you.

Take the lid off the recovery tank. In the front of the tank, there is a square duct that can be lifted out. The end of the hose should have a half-moon shaped piece that will fit into that space and then you replace the lid. Attach the smaller hose to the valve located under the little square door on the right hand side of the hood just in front of the corner of the tank. Return the handle to the upright position and you should be able to use it. Don't lose the square duct you removed. You will have to replace it after in order to go back to the floor function.

(1) Upright: Sounds like the tab on the lower handle that the handel release latches to has broken off. The machine is fully functional without it otherwise.
(2) Assure the ring gasket is in place under the hood. A round rubber gasket must be in place on the round tube under the hood where the recovery tank sits to connect the vacuum from the motor to the round tube on the bottom of the tank.

Yes, your Steam VAc will work on tile floors. You'll want to remove the rotating brushes and install the Bare Floor Tool attachment - Hoover part number 48417003
