Battery will not charge

By hellsbells on Sep 06, 2007

" "
My digital camera worked fine yesterday.
I tried to charge it as normal using the charger, but instead of a continuous red light indicating charging I see a flashing red light.
Normally the camera takes around 2 hours to charge, but after this time the red light was still flashing and the camera will not switch on, presumably as it has not charged.

Could this be the battery? or perhaps the charger?

Clarification Request

I had the same problem and called Casio Technical Support at 800-435-7732. The person who answered was very nice and said they did have some issues with their lithium battery and would send me out a new battery free of charge.

I found this while searching to find an answer to solve my problem. It worked! Some say that it took them about 20 times... it took me about 7. Be patient and just keep trying! Hope this helps!

My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.

I had this problem as well. I found on another web a simple solution. Get a square 9 volt battery. Connect the battery to your casio lithium battery. The easy way to do this was using two sewing neddles. This is really better done with two people. Get the first person to hold the needles on each terminal. Then the other person lowers the lithium battery onto the needles. Please make sure you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. Hold this for about 30 seconds. This will be enough charge for the battery to hold and then the charger will work. This is a tested solution

My camera says "Charge the batteries." I have tried 4 different sets of quality batteries and I charged each set, but I continually get the same, "Charge the batteries" message, and I cannot take any photos. What should I do????

Battery does not charge, red flashing light, brand new camera. Very bad for Samsung!

I went to use my camera on saturday having not used it for a while and when I tried to switch it on nothing happened. I assumed that I needed to charge it and left it to charge overnight however when I came to take it off the charger I noticed that the charge light was still red and that it was flashing, and there was still no power getting to the camera. Does this mean that the battery is not charging, and if so why, and what can I do to solve this problem, I have this camera less than a year.

I have the same problem as well. Instead of a constant red light, I get a flashing light and it goes on indefinitely (tried overnight several times). Camera will not operate at all!

I just bought a new ex-z75, put the new battery to the charger and the red light kept flash forever. after the battery having been charged for two hours, insert the battery to the camera, the camera did not turn on.
what a shame.

I have a similar problem. The charger shows correct but on completion the camera wont switch on. It is not the battery as I bought a new one (£33!)
