I think my son dropped my camera. When I turn it on it makes a buzzing noise, followed by a clicking noise. The shutter(?)/lens cover is stuck open even when the power is off. The zoom lens is stuck half-way out and won't budge even when I pull it. The screen is black and has no error code. Eventually it beeps 5 times and turns itself off.

Bad news I'm afraid. The drop likely damaged the lens tube (housing) or jarred the zoom mechanism off of its track. Either of these conditions causes the camera to shut off to prevent further damage, and either condition will require professional repair.
i am having the same problem with mine , its been like it for the past year now. i am only 14 so my parents think i have dropped it bu i havn't i need a soloution quick because i love taking photos of me and my friends. the olympus f3-330 it a really good cam' but now it doesnt even switch on or turn off . ! you cannot take pictures and the screen comes up in lines and make a beeep beeep noise then the lense goes in and out : / .
You can pull off the other one if you want. To put it back in your basically going to have to take apart the camera. The "Shutters" on the outside is nothing more but to protect the lens will its in the camera. The actual shutter is inside the lens that open and closes very quickly when you take a picture.
Think of it this way, the shutter in the lens opens up to let in light that shows the image to the sensor behind the lens. Then it closes to "finish" capturing the light".
The "shutters" or "doors" on the outside do not move once you take a picture. They only close once the lens retract. (When the camera is turned off or idles)
the problem is with lens.this sometimes happens if cam becomes victim with water. there is some buzzing noise when the shutter of lens gets opened or closed. please clean the lens with the solution once.then you can make out of blurs.
Ihave the same problem. Its annoying. When you turn it on does it make a buzzing noise? Cause that's what mine does. Except I never dropped my camera. It just goes to the Polaroid screen and then turns off. I'm wishing I wouldve bought a different camera :( Sorry I can't help..
Hi: Lens errors like this usually happen as a result of something damaging the lens in some way. It could have been against something to prevent the lens from moving out. It could have been dropped when the lens was out. If the lens is impacted when the lens is out, damage can occur. If there is a buzzing, grinding noise as the lens extends, then the probability of damage to the small plastic gears, internal guides or other internal lens parts is high. What can be done is, as mentioned a few times in my posts, to hold the lens back or pull on it as the camera starts. This may cause more damage, and may not help at all, but some cases may re-align the internal parts in the lens assembly. This may be worth a try, since the camera is useless unless the lens works right. Hope I can give some help here on these.
