Question about Mitsubishi WS-55513 55" Rear Projection HDTV
My Mitsubishi rear projection 55 inch picture blinks on and off for fractions of a second every few seconds. Also my factory remote does not work. I have a univeral remote with my bose system and the tv will respond to those commands. Any ideas as to the problem (faulty lamp? bad circuit?) and cost to repair?
I had the same problem with my model as well. Luckily, I had the extended warranty and a technician came out and said that many people with TVs of this model have the same problem. He replaced the main system board and the problem was fixed. It has been about 4 months now and the problem just came back again. My TV is out of warranty now, but I hope I can get a warranty on that newly replaced party which appears to have gone bad again.

Update on my previous post. As stated before, after the repair technician replaced the main system board, the problem came back. I read some other sites that recommended running your fingers over the buttons on the front of the TV. Apparently, these TVs have a problem where the buttons will get stuck (even if they don't look or feel like they are stuck). As strange as it sounded, I gave it a try and it worked!

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 PART # 283P044020 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT
