Question about 3Com OfficeConnect Router

Limited or no connectivity

I use the 3com officeconnect wireless routerwith four ports, the signal is very strong, when i connect to the wireless network, it always show "limited or no connectivity" i can not use the internet. the laptop brand is compaq i hope someone can help me , thanks a lot!

You need to get into the routers settings ( in your web browser) and look for DHCP, and enable it so as to give your pc's there automatic ip addresses, also check in the general settings if it's a modem router that you have got a internet connection from your ISP and all the dns and ip addresses are showing. Go to the properties of each network card in network connections in your control panel and click on the TCP/IP line and click properties again and ensure obtain ip address automatically is selected and click ok. Restart all pc's if neccasary and refresh your web browser when trying to get online.

The connection is limited

If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wirelessconnection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptopprobably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and thenclick Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless cardon the laptop.

Unless, you can try another computer to connect or there is a tiny (and I mean sometimes pinhole) reset button to push, it may have seen its last day. It has happenned to me and I picked up a little 35 dollar Belkin that worked great.

Press reset button on the rear of the unit for 5 secconds, then by connecting your moden in to yor laptop go to the following web page: and there you will find the software and manual for your AP (access point) the software will let you setup the device from scratch. the default password is admin. hope this helps.

3com linkbuilder TP/8 I bought a used 3com linkbuilder TP/8 and have no manual. Is this a wireless router? at the back there is BNC port. What is it for? Thank you

I am pretty sure what you have is an ethernet hub..not a wireless router. It would be used as a distribution site for a shared network. The BNC port is a connection for coaxial cable.
