My htc desire will no longer sync with my PC it asks to insert disk into drive E

Your solution

Setting up HTC Sync to recognize your phone

After installing, set up HTC Sync to recognize your phone.

1. From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.

2. On the Connect to PC screen on your phone, tap HTC Sync and then tap Done. Your phone attempts to find HTC Sync on your computer. Wait for a few seconds for the process to finish.

3. If your phone displays a message indicating that it's unable to find HTC Sync, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable, and then repeat step 2.

4. When the Phone Connection Wizard is displayed on your computer, click Next.
Enter the name you want for your phone, and then click Finish.

Check the HTC Sync icon at the bottom-right side of your computer screen. If it appears green in color, that means your phone has successfully connected with your computer and HTC Sync recognizes your phone

If still no go try this .

Unplug the phone from the PC, restart both the phone and the PC. When the PC is done booting, plug your phone in and see if the autorun box pops up.

still if nogo try this .

you have to select disk drive (when plugged in via notification area) to be able to view the drive in windows and htc sync to use htc sync.

How do i sync music to my htc freestyle phone to my laptop?

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Your HTC Freestyle uses the Brew operating System.

As such, the HTC Sync program for Brew will only synchronize Outlook contacts and calendar or Outlook Express contacts between your computer and your phone.

The sync software is pretty basic but does the job. If you want to sync music and media with the device then this won't do that for you. Instead you'll have to sync media to the storage card.

The Freestyle comes with a Music application that gives you the ability to play music that's on your microSD card. To load music on your microSD card: Connect your device to your PC via the supplied microUSB cable. Select Disk Drive from the popup menu. Once your device is connected, it will be listed as Removable Disk Drive under My Computer (Click Start > My Computer) and open it. From there, you can simply drag and drop the music files onto your device's microSD card.

If you wish to download the HTC Sync program, click on the link (below). At the HTC support page, READ the instructions, then scroll to the bottom of the page - click on the little blue arrow (under Download) - and select HTC Sync for Brew.

How can I transfer pictures from the phone to a computer

connect the phone to your computer, the phone will promt you to select option as "Active sync"or "Disk mode", select disk mode, and you can find the phone memory card in your My Computer section. You can then copy the photos from there. Or if you want to do it through Active sync, you should first install Active sync on your PC.

Hi, the idea is this trying to activate sync with window 7 operating system. A windows 7 does not accept all kinds of applications or operation been done on it. it's selects a lot of programs.

The reason why there is no active sync might be because it is not compatible with your software format.

You can try it out with another operating system like windows xp etc.And see if it will sync with it.

Take care.

I want to transfer my contacts from outlook express to w302

Sir, Use MyPhone Explorer. It will not only transfer your contacts but is also a complete solution to all your Sony Ericsson sync issues.

You must also download USB drivers for your mobile before using this software.
Download USB drivers here

Export your contacts from Outlook in "VCF" format and import them in MyPhone Explorer. After been imported sync your MyPhone Explorer's Phonebook to your phone using the Sync Button.

If i was helpfull, kindly do rate me.

Harddisk failure to bootup

Only a HDD with a properly installed OS, a valid boot sector and an active partition will 'Boot'

Did it ever work? Are you sure the POWER is there. Are you sure the cables are on right and the HDD is identified in the BIOS of the PC? Are you sure the drive jumpers are correct? Check all of these.

If this is a brand new HDD the first thing you must do is Partition the HDD, and if the HDD will be your BOOT drive, you'll also need to make the partition 'active. Then, in either case you'll have to format it. Use the FDISK utility and then the FORMAT command under DOS or type dskmgmt.msc within Windows (Using the Start, Run box) to do this procedure.

If it is NOT a new HDD, these procedures will wipe your data so be careful.

If it did work and doesn't anymore.. listen to the PC when you apply power. Does the HDD spinup, click a bit and get quiet, or do you hear it repeatedly spinning up, clicking constantly, starting and stopping?? These signs are not good and usually mean the drive controller board is hosed. There is a 50% chance of fixing this problem with an EXACT No. replacement controller board..

If it does spin up, clicks a bit and stops making noises, we can assume is is reaching proper velocity and the heads are finding 'home'. (Good!)

The next thing to look at is your BOOT sequence which YOU can change in the BIOS. Watch the screen when the machine is booting (or trying to) and the POST will usually display a 'Press F2 or F10 or F12 or DEL to enter BIOS " message

Most Older PC boot from Floppy, then CD, then HDD... Newer go from CDROM to HDD (no floppy)
If there is a floppy disk in the A: drive, it will hang forever looking at it trying to boot. Pop it out and try again. In some cases, the same scenerio is possible with a CD in the CDROM - eject it.

If the HDD 'tries' and you get an error onscreen, I can help further knowing WHAT that error is ;-)

Without that knowledge, I'll guess that the boot sector is corrupt- one or more of the HIDDEN or SYSTEM files was changed or deleted by virus/trojan, program, hacker or user and these will have to be put back (manually or using O/S CDROM repair option) before it will ever work as a boot disk again.

Complex, eh?

If the HDD will at least spinup and find 'home' (go ready) With the proper software tools, it might be possible to rescue, and get all the data off too even if it looks 'dead'. In some cases it is as simple as editing the Boot.ini file or replacing missing ones.

These files are NEEDED for a Windows system to boot:
Boot ini should look like this for a 1 HDD system:

[boot loader]
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

What else can you tell me?

1. Possibly a virus/trojan hosed the boot sector: can be fixed with the CDROM "Repair' option but NOT the first one you see. Choose Install, Press F8, let windows FIND your Windows install and THEN choose REPAIR. It will take 30-40 Min. Be sure when it asks for Account, you type one that already is NOT on the PC b/c it will wipe over it. Ex: If you were 'Administrator' before it broke, type "Admin" for the repair. You can access all you your \User\Administrator files (old stuff) later, or move them to \User\Admin.

2. Possibly a virus/trojan made the boot partition 'inactive' - DL, burn and use BART to Boot your PC from CDROM and then run dskmgmt.msc to fix.

3. Possibly a virus/trojan modified the Boot.ini file - Edit 'default' line to look liike this: default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows
[operating systems]

Good luck!

Active sync

Hey no prob sunli. What you need to do is install the "nokia pc suite" with the cd your phone came with. The set up wizard will guide you through the process.

Once you get it installed, I think (I don't have the pc suite right now, I had it before) the sync option you'll be looking for will be somewhere under the "help" menu, which is beside the other menus such as "file".

Once you've selected the option, the install "active sync" will be displayed on your phone (you have to have it connected with the usb cord it came with).

From there you'll be able to do everything you need be done such as file transfer, manage gallery, etc.

Let me know how it goes
