sometimes units work in tandem,meaning if your system set up is working right when everything is connected and now its not working because the woofer is not connected then your system works in tandem, once all of the speakers are connected the system will work as it should,(sometimes these units work when all wires are connected,take 1 wire out of the equation and the system wont function properly, ( you'll be fine when your woofer gets back in line!)
on the back of your pioneer audio/video receiver, you will plug the cable into the subwoofer pre out (back of your receiver) then connect this same cable to your subwoofer.
Receivers often have the ability to switch off the subwoofer channel. Especial if it wasn't connected before. If it has the ability to do a speaker test or set up try that. If it bypasses the subwoofer that will confirm the channel is not on.
check the wire connection with the lights then bulbs okay then look on the inside of the box for an extra wire for power for the lights if that dosent work
