Question about Mitsubishi WS-55809 55" Rear Projection Television

All inputs fail to accept video sginal

Bought this TV Dec 2001 and she has been great except for some strange behavior on the inputs. We never were able to use the front panel jacks for a camcorder or a game. Then we tried the inputs on the back and none would accept a game signal, the picture is just a wavy mess of color and a very faint image of what is trying to play through. We use the DTV input for all the Satellite and DVD signals. Tonight we decided to try to hook up a new Oui game and we bought the component video cable and we tried all the inputs including the DTV with no luck. We went back to play a DVD or TV signal and now nothing will play through and jack!!! Any ideas?

Chromecast conversion

If your TV has an HDMI input, you just plug the chromecast cable into it. If the TV does not an HDMI input, there are several types of adapters that convert the HDMI to whatever the TV input is. I could not locate your TV on the web to see what inputs the TV has, but if you do a search on the web for " HDMI adapters" , you'll find several types. You just need to match the adapter to whatever input type is on the TV. Possibly a place like Best Buy may have the adapter you need. I hope this helps.....

Mitsubishi VS-60805 Rear Projection won't operate in HD mode with Cable Box

Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)

Most of the time the Hyper Board failing is the cause of this problem. It will eventually get worse where it also affects the HD ins. Unfortunately the Hyper Boards are no longer available from Toshiba and have not been available for quite some time. My suggestion is to coast with it and replace the Set when the HD ins fail.

Sony 57 Inch XBR 2001

I don't have the XBR, but on my sony, using the cable box remote, I had to go into menu/display/etc. and mark the 1080i, 720p, and 480i settings. you usually get a "if you can see this" comment if your tv accepts the settings. for standard tv i set the screen to normal, and when the upper channels go to HD, they auto go to full screen. Sounds like you are using the component cable, and also make sure you are on the video port of remote, and the the TV input. The above worked for mine. Hope it helps.

TV projects a pink/green shadow

Logically proceed one source at a time = disconnect all,
then hook-up one at a time or hook-up seperately.FYI, the
RF coax , composite and s-video inputs all share the same
circuitry, whereas component is a whole seperate video
processing circuit, with another difference between 480P and
1080 I . Sounds like you have a 1080 I problem, which might
be a little sister board..............................T.

Let me know..............Thanks.
