If you can not relocate the knob go to a hardware store and get a bushing or small metal tube to hold trim in half hole.

My Lexmark x3550 isn't using the photo cartridge.

There is no way to use the photo cartridge by itself, it is intended to supplement the color cartridge, so printing with just the photo will not give you good results, even if it were possible.

Everything's magenta!

Check in your printer driver settings "advanced" section, and see what the presets are. if the RGB or CYMK settings have a slider, see if the magenta is set at 100%. If it has a slider, try it at 90%, 80%, etc until you have a less pinkish hue. You can then create a printer profile which will work with the photo paper you are using.

Different photo papers can cause hues like this.
Also, you can remove pink any unpleasant hues with most photo image editors through color correction.

It's possible that you have a contaminated cartridge...especially if it's a refilled tri-color cartridge.

Pink in the photos

maybe you use wrong white balance, test auto and manual white balance; if there is pink again then your camera have hard ware problem (CCD for exaple). I hope this helps...

NO user manual for new 5300 printer!!!!

If you want to switch to photo mode you have to have photo paper in the printer. As for the user manual you did get one, just not in paper form. Kodak has the user manual on the software CD or you can go to The reason it's not in paper form is because the user manual is more than 100 pages.
