Hunting Unlimited 2011 did the same thing to me when I tried to play. I installed it on Windows XP no problems. I don't know where on my laptop but it listed operating systems & I checked Vista & the software played just fine.

Windows 7 will not read 95/98 version of scattergories wahat can I do

Wow, big OS problem here.

Windows 7 and Vista both have a serious problem playing games for the previous OS's (XP, ME, 2000, 98/95, 3.1). There are sometimes fixes that you can find on the web (download such and such driver or whatever.) but these only work about 15% of the time. Your best bet to get it to work is to find the .exe file that runs the game itself (right click on the shortcut and click "open file location"). When you find the .exe, right click on that and go to properties, then click the "compatability" tab. At this tab you can set the compatability settings to try and get the game to work. THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. If it doesn't, then most likely the game is simply too old to work on an OS as recent as windows 7. At that point your best bet is to hunt for a more recent version of the game you want to play (one that is compatable with win7)

I had my comp. fixed and they put windows vista home premium on here and i can't play my old games that need xp what can i do

You can do 2 things:
1 - try to run them in XP mode  - right click on its icon, then Properties, then Compatibility, check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows XP in the drop down menu and finally at the bottom of the compatibility tab, check 'Run this program as administrator'.
2 - install http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ , configure it and in it install XP and all the soft with problems, starting with the games.

When i push play on my hunting unlimited 2010 game

Hi,

I am not entirely sure what is causing the problem, but I have a feeling it may have something to do with you using Windows 7.

The reason I say this is because the game does not officially support Windows 7. If I'm right about this, then I might have a solution for you.

Maybe if you run it in compatibility mode for XP or Vista, it'll work for you. See the icon on your desktop for the game? Right click it and select Properties. From there, click the tab that says Compatibility. Then look where it says Run this program in compatibility mode for: and check the box, then select either one of the Windows XP's or the Vista's. Click apply and then okay.

See if that solves it. If not, you can also try running it as an administrator for good measure.

Good Luck :)

Rome Total War!‏

That is your problem. If the game is not compatible with Windows Vista, It won't play it, or play it normally. What I mean is that the game is pretty old (in date created), and the software used to create it was not meant for Vista. Because Vista came afterwards (I think). And Vista has to downgrade while running the game. But it could only downgrade so much. And when it downgrades, it's actually working harder to play the game than having a whole bunch of stuff open at the same time. Vista playes it, but only for a while, because it's not going to downgrade any more.

Hope this helps.

P.S. If you want to play the game, I recomend you get a computer with XP.

Game won't play on my new computer.

Are you sure the game is designed for Windows version earlier than XP? You can try compatibility mode.
  1. Right-click executable file of the game.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Pick Compatibility tab.
  4. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for:.
  5. Pick version of Windows that the game was designed to work on.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Run the game.

CivCity Rome shuts down windows on vista laptop

That's wierd... O.K. yeah, its probably the vista thing... Or it might be the download. When you downloaded the game you might of gotten a faulty copy i.e. the game file has a virus. If it is the "vista" thing, than download the game onto another computer that can play it. Like how you said the game would work fine on your old XP PC, than it sounds like that's the computer you have to use. My advice, keep looking for different downloads to get the game, and keep searching for patches to try and fix the problem, if all else fails buy the game or call tech support. Hope this helps
