Projector won't power up

I have an Acer PD120D projector and when you hit the power button on the projector or the remote the power button turns blue like normal and then the lamp light comes on and then it shuts back off. This is a sudden problem, and I am new on the job and no one knows where the users manual went. Anyone have any ideas where to start on troubleshooting? Thanks for any suggestions.

My sharp projector doesn't seem to be getting any power to be powered up. I know that the bulb is bad, but the last time i used it (when the bulb went out) i remember it haveing power. I have recently moved and it has been handled since then. I'm wondering what i can do to regain power to restore my projector to it's full working capactiy. I know i have to replace the bulb, but is it even worth the trouble? Thanks for your advice.

I have a Mitsubishi projector -- it powers up and then shuts off after about 1 minute. Any suggestions?

At first when you plugged the unit in and pressed the stand-by button it began countdown and as soon as the lamp fired up it shut down. Now it wont even allow you to turn it on as the stand by light wont even stay on or flash, just flashes once and stops. The fans turn on and stay on though.

I have the same problem. I sent it to BenQ and it was "repaired" and worked once. Now it doesn't work again. Previously, I suspected it was a crossed wire, but now I suspect it's a faulty temperature sensor. I would fix it myself, but can't find a tech manual anywhere. Anyone with any suggestions or help would be most appreciated.

I have the same issues with the Eiki. I think it is a faulty temperature sensor. We had one overheat and the bulb exploded inside.

My Hitachi CP-S240 worked great and then one day it just would not turn on... I just spent over 300.00 on a new bulb only to find out that did not fix the problem... Any ideas on a special way to get the power back on to this unit?

I believe this is a problem similar to projectors with metal halide lamps. when the lamp is at the end of its life it does this thing called cycling, where it sparks but theres not enough voltage to start the light. for more info see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_halide_lamp
under the heading "End of Life"

unfortunately, if i'm right about this, it means getting a new lamp, v. expensive...

Acer projector blue light blinks and fan blows and no picture

As far as I can tell this looks like a lamp problem. Unless some of the fans are not able to cycle up tehn it would shut down before it overheats

It is normal for a projector to not turn on if there is no bulb. It is a safety precaution.

Remote won't turn on projector

if the buttons don't work or the leds are not on the projector, it has a power problem. make sure the outlet for the projector is functioning. if still nothing, the bimetal breaker on the projector may have tripped due to overheating. you'll need to remove the top cover. the bimetal has a small red button and is located on the lamp housing. push in the button to reset it. also make sure that the lamp door and the lens cover are completely installed and that the blue switches for them are not broken. this will also cause it not to turn on.

Won't power up at all

There is a chance that it is fuse protected inside.
When a filament-equipped lamp fails, it can create a momentary surge; you've probably seen this when a standard tungsten bulb flashes very bright in the process of dying completely.

If you no longer have the User Guide, you can download it here:

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/ACER/PD120-_E

It may contain information about any fuse it uses.
