I was watching TV and it just turned off. It has done this before, but had no problem turning it back on and working. Now when I go to turn it back on I hear static and the red light comes on and wants to turn on, but then I hear a click and turns right back off? I've been told that it could either be the power board or projection bulb? I've also had a couple people tell me to try the restart button, yes it would be great if it was that easy and I know some TV's have had one, does this TV have one or is it going to be a major fix?

Can you unplug the TV for about 15 seconds, and then plug back in and watch the stand-by light. Tell me how many time the stand-by light blinks in regular intervals. If it doesn't blink at all, you need to change a fuse on the g-board. Once this is done run back through the stand-by blink light process, and more troubleshooting can be done if problem isn't already solved. If the stand-by light just keeps blinking with a count over ten just tell me, and I'll look for other possibilities.
MY TV TURNS OFF AFTER WE TURN IT ON IT GOES BACK OFF A FEW TIMES AND THEN STAYS ON. AND WHEN I COME HOME FROM WORK IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN, THAT HAPPENED FOR 2 WKS NOW IT JUST GOES OFF YOU ONLY SEE THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE FRONT COME ON(POWER LIGHT) AND IT GOES RIGHT BACK OFF IT WILL NOT STAY ON
This is an on-going problem with DLP sets. Normally you shut the set off and the cooling fan cools the lamp down and then it shuts off. In your case, of which it's not your fault, however your lamp has taken a major hit by not properly cooling down, in turn, you need to replace your lamp at this time.
I suggest in the future if you have an electrical storm and a chance of a power outage while your watching tv, I would'nt play that model or any other model of a DLP set.
I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.
Good day, cjnewcarguy;
If you like new cars you may enjoy a new LCD Flat Panel TV. Try unplugging the TV for about 2-3 minutes, plug back in. Working... no?? The average repair cost of projection TV is about $400.00 to $550.00.
Good luck, big IRISH.
When the tv shuts done does the power light blink? If so what number does it blink? That will tell me which circuit your problem is in. Notice the number of blinks then let me know. Also what is the model number of your set.
